review  by Salvo "Lovedeath" Russo____

Every modernism is abolished.

The 5th Altaria’s album is  pure bloody Hard Rock/Heavy Metal  full of all the characteristics that this style needs…

The style is the result of influences like Ozzy Osburne, Doro, and the classic 80’s heavy metal bands that, at that time, rode the wave of the movement….

It’s pure metal style what you listen to in this work that gets a great protagonist like Marco Luponero that is true metal singer with a strong voice that can give the right  emphasis to the songs…The problem is that there’s no originality in the songs that sounds poor of new ideas and in my personal opinion they lack of those unforgettable refrains that are essential to leave a mark….

The album is agreeable, but not even one song is good to be remembered in my opinion…classic riffs that reminds of Kiss, Twisted sister & C. with a remarked more metal approach…. but nothing original…

The band is able to play well…the singer is good…the songs are agreeable …but nothing more…and for this reason if you like to listen the classic 80’s style you can’t but appreciate songs like: Never wonder why, Unholy Invasion that gets a very good riff …the good refrain of “Danger Zone”…all the songs get a good arrangement…but it’s not so difficult considering that band sounds very easy with the classic lineup…voice, guitar, bass and drums…and every modernism is abolished!

The production is good …and what can I say more? Only for 80’s Hard Rock fans!!

rating: 6,5/10

ADDITIONAL  INFOS

Altaria's story begun in Finland in the year 2000 as a project of drummer  Tony S. and now former bassplayer Marko Pukkila writing music together just  for the sake of it. In 2001 that project turned in to a real band as the name Altaria was taken and the first line-up was complete. The first live shows and studio recordings were also made the same year. Altaria's second demo already awoke interest among record companies and the band was signed in 2002. Between 2003 and 2007 Altaria recorded three studio albums and a compilation album was also released. After Altaria's third album "The Fallen Empire" in 2006 the band did it's first major tour all over Europe supporting "The Metal Queen" Doro and Sonata Arctica. Large festivals as well as club tours have also been on the band's schedule during the years and Altaria is known to be entertaining and always give 100% on stage. In the beginning of 2008 the band started to prepare for a new album and later that year 12 new tracks were chosen to be recorded. The name "Unholy" was decided to be suitable for the new album which will be more guitar-based and "dirty" than earlier Altaria releases.  The album is unleashed  through Escape Music.
