The
band played 55 Minutes and
the crowd got rocked.
Corrosion
of Conformity
recently issued their self titled record with involved Pepper
Keenan. He’s still an official member of the band, but his focus
is on Down and that’s why he can’t go on Tour with the guys.
In
spite of this unhappy situation, Corrosion
of Conformity started tourin’ in order to promote their
record. The tour convoy stopped in Lucerne City for a show. The
American support Acts Black
Cobra and Zoroaster
were on board.
Zoroaster
opened first. The Sludge Metal Band from Atlanta, Georgia
delivered a solid show. In spite of fewer spectators their music
found great approval in the hall. Singer Will Fiore looked a
little bit like a truck driver. He convinced vocally and with
Black Sabbath like tunes, which he elicited his guitar. A 45
minutes Acid cocktail was served. “San Fran” became the last
track and the band thanked the crowd for the great mood.

Cobra was
the second act. The Californians from San Francisco did a great
show right from the beginning. The duo about singer Jason Landrian
and former Acid Kings Bass player Rafael Martinez behind the drums
became stronger with every song. Can such collaboration without a
bass player work? Yes, it can! Jason played an amazin’ show.
Even
his guitar solos with a Zakk Wylde touch were an acoustic orgasm.
The music got its special touch by his raspy voice and that was
responsible why you could feel a special but comfortable
atmosphere. The spectators liked it and the applause was stronger
this time. An outstanding performance! They can come back for
another show!

The
headliner Corrosion of
Conformity was the last act. It wouldn’t be easy
convincin’ the crowd, because their predecessors were great in
performin’.
Anyway,
they started without any worries and showed a solid performance.
Guitar solos and duels of singer Mike Dean and Woody Weatherman
took turns and Mike convinced with a first class vocal effort
during Woody impressed with catchy guitar tunes.
The
band played 55 Minutes and the crowd got rocked. Corrosion of Conformity made sure, they still can keep up with the
young bands after 30 years. Unfortunately, an encore didn’t
follow after “Technocracy” and the big hits weren’t played
either.

is my point for this show:
All
bands were great, but Corrosion
of Conformity was the winner. Concededly, Pepper Keenan was
missing and that became noticeable at the show. I have no problems
with Mike and the others, but it ain’t the same.

Minuten lang wurde gerockt und dem Publikum ordentlich eingeheizt.
Vor
kurzem veröffentlichten Corrosion
of Conformity ihr selbstbetiteltes Album bei dem Pepper Keenan
mitwirkte. Offiziell gehört er noch zur Band, aber sein Fokus
liegt derzeit bei Down und deshalb kann er nicht mit den Jungs auf
Tournee gehen. Ein Umstand der viele Fans schmerzt, weil ohne ihn
ein wichtiges Element in der Band fehlt.
Trotz
dieser unglücklichen Situation und um das Album zu promoten,
gingen Corrosion of Conformity
auf Tour. Für ein Konzert legte man einen Halt in der Stadt
Luzern ein. Mit an Bord die amerikanischen Vorbands Black
Cobra und Zoroaster.
Als
erste Band des Abends eröffneten Zoroaster.
Die Sludge Metaller aus Atlanta Georgia zeigten eine solide Show.
Ihre Musik fand in der Halle viel Anklang, trotz wenigen
Zuschauern. Sänger Will Fiore sah von weitem aus wie ein Trucker.
Stimmlich überzeugte er wie auch die schleppenden Riffs mit Black
Sabbath Touch, die er seiner Gitarre entlockte. 45 Minuten lang
wurde ein LSD Cocktail der Güteklasse A serviert. Dann wurde mit
„San Fran“ der letzte Song gespielt und die Band bedankte sich
beim Publikum.

Reihe. Die Kalifornier aus San Francisco USA legten von Anfang an
einen tollen Start hin. Mit jedem Song steigerte sich das Duo um Sänger
Jason Landrian und ex-Acid Kings Bassist Rafael Martinez hinter
dem Schlagzeug. Kann so ein Auftritt ohne Bassisten funktionieren?
Die Antwortet lautet: Ja! Es kann! Wie von der Biene gestochen
zeigte Jason eine super Leistung!
Alleine
seine Gitarrensolos waren ein akustischer Hörgenuss bei dem man
Zakk Wylde heraushörte. Durch seine Reibeisenstimme bekam die
Musik den bestimmten Zusatz, was eine spezielle aber auch
angenehme Atmosphäre schuf. Den Zuschauern gefiel es und der
Applaus fiel dieses Mal stärker aus. Hammer Leistung von A-Z! Dürfen
gerne wieder kommen!

war der Headliner an der Reihe. Es würde nicht einfach werden das
Publikum zu begeistern, da ihre Vorgänger mit guten Auftritten glänzten.
Jedenfalls
gingen sie unbekümmert ans Werk und zeigten eine grandiose
Leistung. Gitarrensolos- und Duelle von Sänger Mike Dean und
Woody Weatherman wechselten sich ab mit einer erstklassigen
Gesangseinlage von Mike während Lead Gitarrist Woody Weatherman
mit eingängigen Riffs brillierte.

hatten klar gestellt, dass sie es auch nach 30 Jahren noch drauf
haben und mit den jungen Bands von heute Schritt halten können.
Zum Leidwesen vom Publikum wurde keine Zugabe nach
„Technocracy“ gespielt und auch die grossen Hits wurden nicht
gespielt.

Fazit:
Alle Bands waren klasse, aber Corrosion
of Conformity waren meiner Meinung nach der Abräumer des
Abends. Allerdings fehlte Pepper Keenan und dies wurde bei der
Show deutlich. Nicht das ich was gegen Mike & Co. hätte, aber
ohne Pepper ist es einfach nicht das Gleiche.
