Brilliant beyond measure.

Oh my brothers and sisters, I am very proud to present you “Take The Consequences” by Cypecore. I wrote about this band earlier this year with their first offering, “Innocent,” and I wrote,  I feel the band hit a homerun with this one.” And I had been listening to that album all summer long. When I had heard that Cypecore was recording another album, I was a little surprised since at that because their first album only came out last June. I didn’t know what to expect this time around because I’ve never heard of band having this quick of turn around between albums. But I knew one thing though, it was going to kick some serious ass and “Take The Consequences” did just that!

One cannot go wrong, my esteemed colleagues, when the best metal band to come out in the last few years (literally two years or so) begins the album with the lyrics, “This is the way we go….this is the way we grow!” and accompanies the rest of the band with heavy blast beats accompanied with some of the heaviest guitar sounds in metal today. I am more convinced than ever, that Cypecore took off where In Flames left off after “Clayman.” Their first (actual) track, “Values of Life” really impressed me. I feel that it would appeal to a vast metal audience. It’s catchy, it’s heavy, it’s got good lyrics, great guitar sound, original-intricate drumming, and great singing.

“Lie of Redemption,” their second (actual track) on the album, starts off a little slow, but eventually goes melodic with an awesome guitar solo that doesn’t sound too over the top but is still done beautifully. When the singing comes in at the first verse, the sound of the band is so heavy, holy shit! It’s grinding! It puts every metal band to shame!!! It’s one of the heaviest riffs I’ve heard. The guitar and the kick drums are in syncopation, much like the Fear Factory sound, but imagine this: IT’S HEAVIER! That’s right, I said it. I’ve been a fan of Fear Factory for 15 years and Cypecore just put them to shame! The chorus makes me want to invite everyone I know over to my house to form a mosh pit. This is another great song!

“The Moment of Impact” is slower sounding than the other tracks but it’s much much darker and more melodic than the other ones. Cypecore does this well, where one guitar would play the heavy rhythm track and the other guitar player would play this ultra-melodic guitar riff over it that completely encapsulates the listener. Cypecore has done this in a few of their songs like, “Innocent” from their previous album. I also wanted to point out how the song is sung. I felt like he was kind of rapping…but it’s the wrong word for it. I know he was shouting like he normally does, but the words at the end of each line seem to rhyme with the next one quite the peculiar manner. I thought it sounded cool actually.

Oh my brothers and sisters of metal, there is something to be said about every track on this CD and even more things to be said about their previous album. I mention the previous album because I’ve had a lot more time to listen to it since my original review. The new Cypecore cd simply is just awesome. Cypecore as a band, is brilliant beyond measure. This is the band I’ve been looking for, for a while. A band that could be as brilliant, heavy, and melodic like their Swedish predecessors without eventually sounding below average. Cypecore has something to say in their music, it’s best that everyone pay attention.

            9/10
