The legendary German Industrial Metal instution Die Krupps are back. They created a successful comeback album called „Maschinists of Joy“ and received many good reviews. Currently, they’re on the „Maschinists of Joy“ tour and stop for a show at the legendary Metal temple Z7. Vigilante from Chile and The Chant from the USA are support acts.

Actually the show shoud’ve started on 7:30 PM. However it wasn’t until 8 PM before the lights went out and The Chant entered the stage. The Texanians from Austin are in Europe for the first time and kick ass right from the start with an own special genre called Tribal Industrial Rock. There’s only a drum and a synthesizer on stage. That’s enough to put an audience in ecstasy. An additional plus is this performance has a kind of punk attitude and that rocks! The two man group about singer Billy Bills performed 40 minutes long before they said goodbye to the enthusastic audience.

Then a short interruption occured and the stage was changed. A short time later Vigilante entered the stage. A person with a Guy Fawkes mask put a shield with the title „Now is the Revolution“ in the air while videos was played as an introduction on a screen. The person took of the Guy Fawkes mask and you realised he was the singer Ivan Muñoz.

After that the first song „New Order“ pumped out the speakers. Vigilante heated up the audience with a powerful mix of Electro and Metal while videos of poverty, crooked politicans, police violence, war and many more were showed on the screen. Singer Ivan Muñoz didn’t stay on stage like a lot of singers do but he went down the stage to the audience in order to involve the spectators. The social critical lyrics dennoune the injustices of today’s world and was received enthusiastically. The spectators applauded loud after every song, because you could feel the realness. This isn’t just music, the band wants to express its music.

The Internet network Anynomous was honored with the track „It’s our time“, which is fightin‘ versus censorship in the World Wide Web. Ivan Muñoz said „There should be more couragous people in the world“ and added „You should only fear yourself“. „Native Blood“ was about the history of Chile about the conquistadores until the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet. The oustanding performance was rounded off by the encore „The New Revolution“ and Vigilante left the stage. What the Chileans performed was simply great.

The stage was changed one more time. The lights went out on 10 PM and the long awaited headliner Die Krupps entered the stage. The Düsseldorfer were at the Z7 six or seven years ago. Singer Jürgen Engler and guitar player Marcel Zürcher opened the set with „Blick zurück im Zorn“. The spectators went freakin‘ nutz and you danced or moshed. A Swiss spectator caused lauther when he asked the question „Does this song has somethin‘ to do with the elections from February 9?“ before „ Im Falschen Land“ got played and singer Jürgen Engler answered with a smile „Has there been one?“. Many members of the black scene attented the show and liked the performance. You noticed that the vibe in the band was alright. The focus was on the new material „Maschinists of Joy“ but there was space for some old school kick ass tracks like „Fatherland“, „Metal Machine Maniac“, „To The Hilt“.

The spectators weren’t satisfied after the regular set and asked for more. After that „Wahre Arbeit Wahrer Lohn“, „Eiskalter Engel“ and „Crossfire“ followed. All hells broke loose. The spectators danced, singed with the band and sometimes singer Jürgen Engler went to the xylophon on stage and played on it while the logo of „Maschinists of Joy“ shined bright.

The outstandin‘ performance ended after 95 minutes. Singer Jürgen Engler, guitar player Marcel Zürcher and sampler Ralf Dörper earned standing ovations. It’s amazin‘ what Die Krupps performed tonight. Hopefully they return soon again!

Die legendäre deutsche Industrial Metal Institution Die Krupps sind zurück. Mit „Machinists of Joy“ ist ihnen ein sensationelles Comeback Album gelungen wofür sie zahlreiche positiven Rezensionen erhalten haben. Unter dem Motto „Machinists of Joy“ touren sie derzeit durch die Lande und legen einen Zwischenstopp im legendären Schweizer Konzerttempel Z7 ein. Mit dabei sind Vigilante aus Chile und The Chant aus den USA.

Eigentlich hätte um 19:30 Uhr das Konzert beginnen sollen. Jedoch dauerte es bis 20 Uhr bevor die Lichter ausgingen und The Chant die Bühne betraten. Die Texaner aus Austin sind zum ersten Mal in Europa unterwegs und überzeugen von Anfang an mit einer eigenen aussergewöhnlichen Stilrichtung namens Tribal Infused Industrial Rock. Nur ein Schlagzeug und Synthesizer stehen auf der Bühne. Das reicht jedoch um mit treibenden Beats das Publikum in Ekstase zu versetzen. Dass das mit einer Punkattitüde rübergebracht wird, ist ein weiterer Pluspunkt. Das Duo um Frontmann Bradley Bills gab 40 Minuten lang Vollgas bevor sie sich vom begeisterten Publikum verabschiedeten.

Dann folgte ein kurzer Unterbruch und die Bühne wurde umgebaut. Wenig später betraten die Chilenen Vigilante die Bühne. Ein Mann mit Guy Fawkes Maske hob ein Schild in die Höhe mit der Aufschrift „Now is the Revolution“ während im Hintergrund auf einer Leinwand ein Video zur Einführung lief. Der Mann nahm die Guy Fawkes Maske ab und es stellte sich heraus, dass es sich um Vigilante Sänger Ivan Muñoz handelt. Mit „New Order“ erklang daraufhin der erste Song. Während im Hintergrund auf der Leinwand Videos zu Themen wie Armut, Korrupte Politiker, Polizeigewalt, Krieg etc. lief, heizte Vigilante den Zuschauern mit einer kraftvollen Mischung aus Electro & Metal ein. Sänger Ivan Muñoz blieb nicht auf der Bühne stehen wie viele Sänger es tun, sondern ging runter ins Publikum um mit den Zuschauern in Kontakt zu treten und sie dadurch in die Show miteinzubeziehen. Die sozialkritischen Texte prangern die Missstände der heutigen Welt an und finden sofort Anklang. Die Zuschauer applaudierten lautstark nach jedem Song, denn die Authentizität war spürbar. Hier ging es nicht nur um Unterhaltung, denn die Band will mit ihrer Musik etwas aussagen.

Mit „It’s Our Time“ wurde der Internet Organisation Anonymous gehuldigt, die sich gegen die Zensur im Internet einsetzt. „Es sollte mehr mutige Leute in dieser Welt geben“ meinte Ivan Muñoz und fügte hinzu „Leute sollten nur vor sich selber Angst haben“. Bei „Native Blood“ ging es um die Geschichte von Chile über die Conquistadoren bis zur Dikatur von Augusto Pinochet. Mit der Zugabe „The New Revolution“ wurde der grossartige Auftritt abgerundet und Vigilante verliessen die Bühne. Einfach grossartig, was da von den Chilenen dargeboten wurde.

Erneut wurde die Bühne umgebaut. Um 22 Uhr gingen die Lichter aus und der sehnlichst erwartete Headliner Die Krupps erschienen auf der Bühne. Es ist ungefähr sechs bis sieben Jahre her, seit die Düsseldorfer zum letzten Mal im Z7 gastierten. Mit „Blick zurück im Zorn“ eröffneten Sänger Jürgen Engler und Gitarrist Marcel Zürcher ihr Set. Die Zuschauer gingen ab wie Schmidts Katze und entweder tanzte man oder moshte. Beim Lied „Im Falschen Land“ sorgte ein Schweizer Zuschauer für Lacher als er die Frage stellte „Hat dies etwas mit der vergangenen Abstimmung vom 9. Februar zu tun?“ woraufhin Sänger Jürgen Engler lächelnd entgegnete „War da überhaupt eine?“. Viele Mitglieder der Schwarzen Szene waren anwesend und freuten sich über die Darbietung. Man spürte regelrecht, dass die Chemie in der Band stimmte. Der Fokus lag auf dem neuen Material von ihrer aktuellen Scheibe „Maschinists of Joy“, aber auch alte Gassenhauer wie z.B. „Fatherland“, „Metal Machine Maniac“, „To The Hilt“ kamen zum Einsatz.

Die Zuschauer hatten nach dem regulären Set nicht genug und forderten Zugaben. Daraufhin wurde „Wahre Arbeit, Wahrer Lohn“, „Eiskalter Engel“ und „Crossfire“ gespielt und es gab kein Halten mehr. Es wurde getanzt, mitgesungen und zwischendurch ging Sänger Jürgen Engler zum aufgebauten Xylophon und spielte darauf während das Symbol vom Album „Maschinists of Joy“ anfing zu leuchten.

Nach 95 Minuten endete der sensationelle Auftritt. Mit frenetischem Applaus wurden Sänger Jürgen Engler, Gitarrist Marcel Zürcher und Sampler Ralf Dörper überschüttet. Einfach klasse was Die Krupps heute geleistet haben. Hoffentlich kommen sie bald wieder!
