review  by Marc Anthony H. Bertone____

Definitely for fans of the more extreme type doom metal. This cd is rough on
the edges, feedback drenched and insane. Rise above apparently is signing acts outside of
the "stoner" doom tag, this is more on par with the better bands on the Southern lord recordings' roster.

The songs are long, droning, but never boring (well, to me anyway). Think "In
the name of suffering" era EYEHATEGOD, with better vocals and production.

Speaking of vocals, they are reminscent of a more sarcastic Ozzy, but surprisingly dynamic,
something one won't expect from a drone doom band (or an Ozzy clone). Another
band that quickly comes to mind is early MELVINS. It could be an overstatement but I rank this up there with SAINT VITUS' "Born too late".

This is a killer effort. Standout tracks are "Another perfect Day", which tend
to break from the monotone to go and burst into a rocking tune; and "We live" has this real dark and powerful riff that to me is the best in the whole record.

I always said (to myself) that I would pick a brutally heavy doom cd over a death one.

This is one of those records.
This is awesome.
