Hy Gerassimos Evangelou…it’s a pleasure to interview you for me….can
you tell us something about the project of LORD AGHEROS?
The
latest album is the third one from you realized, can you describe the evolution of your sound? Actually
there is not a real evolution of my sound. There is in the most a concept
of sounds applied to a specific musical concept of mine. What really
counts for me is to express my emotions in music just following my
inspiration, not any music genre or cliché.
Are
you satisfied of “OF BEAUTY AND SADNESS” Yes,
very satisfied, not just because of the positive feedbacks of reviews or
fans. It was necessary to close the trilogy also.
Are
there particular influences in your musical path…it’s evident a
passion for soundtrack music is it true? Yes, you are absolutely right, because of the strict connection between images and music evoked. I like taking inspiration also from everyday situations or natural shows and atmospheres. I like many film directors, but in the most the composers of soundtrack. Like Vangelis, Hans Zimmer, Denny Elfman and Ennio Morricone of course!
You’ve
realized a good video for the song “Svart
Hemlangtan” can you describe the video in according with the lyrics of
the song? “Svart
Hemlangtan” (in Swedish “Black Nostalgy”) wants to tell the story of
two lovers, far from each other but walking through the same places in
different moments. The melancholy comes from the impossibility of being
together. The videoclip was filmed by Michela Ruggeri, my art director and
photographer, at the Cliffs of Moher mainly, in the wonderful Ireland. We
didn’t need any special effect but the video editing, because the
natural show (sun, fog, cliffs and wind) was absolutely perfect!
Many
black metal artists tries to realize a side-project of dark ambient…in
your opinion are there good and valid works ? Well, I
think it depends on the sounds chosen. Sometimes I listen to very special
sounds or very simple ones, creating both the same final effect. This only
really counts.
Is
it possible to create a valid ambient in order to realize a live session
for your music? Yes
it’s possible, but in a very specific way. It’s hard to create the
right live session with the right ingredients: lights, atmospheres,
scenography and so on. I must pay attention to this elements to realize
it.
Are
there future plans for you and Lord
Agheros project? After
the trilogy I can turn the page. Just wait for this!
What
do you think about the Italian dark ambient scene? I
don’t know so many dark ambient bands here in Italy. However, my idea is
the same both in Italy and worldwide: what really counts is to do the best
as possible and to believe in the good inspiration.
The
last question is the game of the tower…you’re on a very high tower and
with you there three bands…you have to push down two of them, saving the
third one….for you there are: VANGELIS SUMMMONING STEVE ROACH Instead i would gather a big crowd, climbing the tower again and let it start the biggest festival of the year!
