ALWAYS VERY INTERESTED IN HISTORY AND WORLD LITERATURE
Dalia: So we are here with Andy, vocals of Stormwich, the German Metal legend.
Stormwich are back after almost 8 years of absence, and it is a very important event for the rock/metal scene, but don't you fear that someone, above all, young people , will ask you who you are?, but on the other hand , i have seen this eavening, during the gig, a lot of young people in the crowd...

Andy: Yeah, we are very happy, that so many younger boys and girls are interested in us, and i think that's because of Hammerfall, Hammerfall did, in 1997 i think , a song from us called Raven Lord, and after that many younger people were interested in Stormwich. We are very happy about that. Since then it is looking very good for us.

Dalia:What  in Stormwhich  is still representing the old soul and what's the new?

Andy: Stormwich always stands for classic Heavy Metal, our influences were Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Ronny James Dio,  Steel... and we always wanted to do that, and the reason for the split up was, the guys they came into the band, after the original line up broke, always wanted to change the band, and i stopped in 1994 because we went more and more away from the original sound. Now the new members in the band also like this kind of music, two of them were Stormwich fans, they saw Stormwich playing in a concert and after that concert, that experience was so strong for them, that they started to play an instrument and it's great at the moment.

Dalia: I have seen a big enthusiasm from the members of the band while you were playing.....

Andy: ...yes, there is a friendship between the members...

Dalia: ...so you have an ideal line up around you now?.

Andy: Yeah, at the moment it's perfect in every way, we get the right record company and the right guys play together... it's perfect, its party, like it should be.

Dalia: Could your music be identified as Dark Power or..." Black Romantic" ??

Andy: The fans gave us the titel as Black Romantic, because we did things from literatur. There is a literatur style in England which is called Black Romantic, it's 1887 i think, in that time Stevenson wrote his Dr Jeckill and Mr Hyde, and this english artist recalled Black Romantic, and our songs are inspired of that period. We had things from Edgar Allen Poe, from Oscar Wild, even if Oscar Wild is a little later but he is named in the list of the writers of Black Romantic too, and one fan was very interested in lyrics and he wrote us ' yeah, you are the real masters of Black Romantic',and that sounded good so we took it on the Stronger Than Heaven album

Dalia: Related to that is my next question, on your new album there are songs whoss titels are The House of Usher, Jeanne d' Arc, The King of Terrors, The Knights of Light, so there is a connection again with this culture..?

Andy: Yes, of course, Stormwich was always very interested in history and world literature. I read a lot and for me it's a passion, at the moment a historical story about Casanova.

Dalia: Do you have a favorite writer?

Andy: Oh, not just one, i think in history we have a lot of very good artists like for example Edgar Allen Poe, Oscar Wild... i think it was a great period for writers

Dalia: Methinks that the ideal tempo for your songs is the midtempo. Is this true?

Andy: yeah, yeah, because the classical Heavy Metal wasn't always that fast, i think Accept did it first when they made Fast as a Shark, after that everyone plays this fast stuff. at the beginning of the 80's it was a little bit more groovy, slower......

Dalia: How do you see the scene now?

Andy: I think the scene now is much better, it is more idealistic, in the 80' i think sometimes people tought more about the career, to get a big career and get a lot of money...
i think now it is more realistic, these people who are now or still in the scene do that because they love it and i think thats a very good and important aspect.

Dalia: your projects for the future, like tours or stuff like that?

Andy: yeah, we are working on a tour together with Hammerfall, and i think when that's possible, it would be perfect, but at the moment there is nothing fixed....

Dalia: ... and related to that and Hammerfall, another band has reunited: Warlord....

Andy: ... yeah!, Warlord too would be great, i think this tree bands together on a tour would be great!

Abs: my i ask a question?

Andy: ...sure....

Abs: hmm.... so the old is back?

Andy: yeah..., i think that after all these years, many people noticed, that who died was much better than who followed, now the olders are back, (laughing)

Dalia: I have noticed that , both in the cover art as in your official website too, there is a recurrent  figure, the Bat, so is this a kind of mark for Stormwich?

Andy: yeah!.. we underlined our name with a bat, and you can read in the short story of us the lines , that witches come to the dancing place in the form of bats...

Dalia: some mistery behind?.. in a certain way of view...

Andy yeah!

Dalia: are you satisfied with your album ' Dance with the Witch'?

Andy: yeah!, defenately..., because it's like in the old days, and the sound is better than in the old days...(laughing), we are happy about it, and i think its misterious... i can't believe it, everything works so perfect....

Dalia: which is the song of your new album you like most to play live?... with the biggest fun , thinking .. "this is my song" !......

Andy: ohhh... that's very difficult, because i always liked what Stormwitch did, and some of the members weren't that sure about, but me i will play every song we ever made and i will do it, i think, until i die... maybe falling from the stage.....i'm not able to name one song, when i'm on stage it is party, from the first to the last song........

Dalia: so, what are your impressions after the gig here on Summer Breeze?

Andy: It is a little bit like ...Woodstock... it is like a big family here....

Dalia: as last question i will present you the typical Gryphonmetal last question, that i do to every band i have the pleasure to interview, changing from band to band just a little particular. This question ... i call this question the Game of the Tower, .... so for you and Stormwitch there is, in a misteryous and ancient land, full off witches and storms and bats....

Andy: ... oh!.. thats my home.....

Dalia: hehhe i supposed..so...there is a terrible high tower, and on the tower there are three bands which are waiting for you, and you have to push down two of them saving only one.... the three bands for you are ... Linkin Park, Papa Roach and Limp Bizkit...!!!

Andy: ... that's hard, that's very hard to decide whom to save ... i think there is a philosophy in it , because i think that everyone should do what he believe in ... and i'm very tollerant .... i don't want to kill anyone of them , because it's a new way to live, and i think everyone should do what makes them happy....

Dalia: .. so you would save all three....though they are New Metal....

Andy: yeah! that's a new way of life... its something different......

Dalia: thank you so much Andy!
