Burning Ice was the next act. I didn’t know much about the Therwil band and was lookin’ forward to their show. They did a good performance and even when they are very young (approximately at the age of 17-20), they convinced the audience with a mix of Modern Metal like Sevendust combined with a Heavy Metal influence and this showed up during the solos of guitarist Filipo Despotovic. Singer Leon Vello convinced vocally what the spectators rewarded with standing ovations. The Burning Ice show was a success and they gained new fans tonight. Keep it up!

Last but not least Areion entered the stage on 11 PM. Unfortunately for singer Torsten Nagel, the audience shrinked on 20 spectators. However, this is no way dampened the good spirits of the fans, who stayed and celebrated every single song. Singer Torsten & co played the Parkway Drive track „Dark Days“ to add some variety, the fans went freakin‘ nutz and they started moshin‘ around, violent dancin‘ or headbangin like never before. Unfortunately, the performance ended 50 minutes after the encore „Awakening“. I wasn’t the only one, who disliked it. But the good impression from the beginning did last and we look forward to the next shows.

Passt Core-Musik und Heavy Metal zusammen? Das hatte sich mancher Fan beim Anblick des Rockfact Event gefragt, an dem Areion, Burning Ice und Sick Twisted Smile auftraten. Selten spielen Bands solch unterschiedlicher Stilrichtungen gemeinsam ein Konzert. Um herauszufinden, wie so eine Mischung funktionieren und beim Publikum auf Anklang stossen würde, ging ich in den Rockfact Club in Münchenstein.

Als erste Band des Abends eröffneten Sick Twisted Smile. Die Gruppe um Frontfrau Leonie Stutzer spielt eine eingängige Mischung aus Post HC, Metal und Rock. Sängerin Leonie überzeugte mit einer hochkarätigen Gesangsleistung und zeigte, dass in dieser zierlichen Person eine richtige Rockröhre steckt, die neben cleanem Gesang auch richtig dreckig singen kann. Obwohl zwischendurch technische Probleme auftraten, weil Bandmitglied Dominik Jundts Gitarre plötzlich streikte, meisterten sie diese Situation mit Bravour. Der Auftritt wurde vom Publikum mit viel Applaus bedacht und Sick Twisted Smile verabschiedete sich von zufriedenen Zuschauern.

Dann waren Burning Ice am Zug. Über die Therwiler Metal Band wusste ich ehrlich gesagt nicht viel und war dementsprechend auf den Auftritt gespannt. Trotz des relativ jungen Alters (die Jungs sind ca. 17-20 Jahre alt) machten sie ihre Sache überraschend gut und begeisterten die Zuschauer mit Modernem Metal à la Sevendust und einer Heavy Metal Schlagseite, welche sich bei den melodischen Gitarrensolos von Gitarrist Filipo Despotovic zeigte. Frontmann Leon Vello überzeugte gesanglich was die Zuschauer zu tosenden Applaus verleitete. Burning Ice zeigten einen tollen Auftritt und konnten dadurch an diesem Abend neue Fans gewinnen. Weiter so!

Zu guter letzt hatten Areion nach 23 Uhr die Bühne betreten. Zum Leidwesen von Sänger Torsten Nagel schrumpfte das Publikum auf ca. 20 Fans. Dies tat der guten Stimmung keinen Abbruch, denn die verbliebenen Fans hatten viel Spass an der Metalcore/Deathcore Mischung und gingen bei jedem Song voll mit. Um ein wenig Abwechslung ins Set zu bringen, spielten Torsten & Co den Parkway Drive Song „Dark Days“ bei dem die Fans vor Freude ausflippten und erst recht anfingen zu moshen, Violent Dancen oder Headbangen. Leider war nach 50 Minuten und der Zugabe „Awakening“ Schluss was nicht nur ich schade fand. Jedoch blieb ein positiver Eindruck von Anfang an und daher freuen wir uns auf die nächsten Konzerte.
