Powerful sound, skilful musicians.

Fog Foundation production sent us another interesting band from Italy. In their biography I read that Spiritrow tries to blend the old and the new metal , not inventing a new style but trying to “shuffle the cards”...The result is rather good, but in my opinion it’s important to underline some important aspects about it; In my opinion there’s not much modern “approach” to these songs; the arrangements and the production are absolutely “old style” and it’s evident that the main influence of the band are the old metal school bands.

As I said before the production could be improved as well as the songs, but it’s evident that there are some good ideas that could be appreciable by those who likes classic trash and death metal music.
A particular annotation should be given to the lyrics that deals with spiritualism and are a very important aspect for the band.
The band was created in 2009, and in these years they worked hard in order to produce this debut album.
Even if the release is pleasing , in my opinion all the songs seems similar to each other, and the whole project is not (in my opinion) up to the most of actual production.
The “attempt” to mix modern & old, made them more close to the old bands, and for this reason I affirm that modern metal fans should stay away from this release, both for the arrangements & production aspect but also for what concern the “idea” of making songs, that sometimes is close to new metal bands (15 years ago) but still far away from the most of modern hardcore bands.
On the contrary , those who are still “living in the past” could find them an interesting band.
The sound is powerful and the musicians are skilful ; Joe’s voice bangs hard , and these qualities are absolutely clear !!!

As I told before, the quality of the songs based on a good rhythmic session and a good guitar riffing, are not always up to the task and some ideas seems to be forced ; Besides it, on the whole I don’t feel like pan this album, I wish to listen to a better next one; the band gets all the qualities to lay the basis for a great future release.

Rating : 6/10
