Evening
full of highlights.
The
indoor festival „Swiss Metal Attack“ by the Z7 team has the
purpose to show what’s goin‘ on in the Swiss Metal
Underground. There are many good bands but less support and that’s
a shame. It’s therefore gratifyin’ that the Z7 team wants
support the scene.
Tonight
was dedicated to Death Metal. Four Swiss bands from different
areas were hired. The old school Death Metal veterans Disparaged
was the headliner and the Baselland Melodic Death Metal
command Arcturon was the co-headliner. The support slots
got Soulline from Swiss Canton of Ticino and Eye On
Perdition from Swiss Canton of St. Gallen.
Doors
opened on 7:00 PM. 45 Minutes later Eye on Perdition
entered the stage. The Sarganser visited the area of Basel for the
first time and brought 15 fans in a bus to the show. Their style
between Thrash Metal and Progressive / Brutal Death Metal was well
received by the audience. Many fans banged their heads in front of
the stage. Singer Gianluca Teofani was so happy about this
situation he couldn’t stop smilin‘. Some metalheads were so
enthusiastic about the music they started moshin‘ around. Eye
On Perdition left the stage after 35 minutes and received much
applause for the great performance.

The
Tessiner SoulLine was the next act after a short
interruption. „Curse“ pumped out the speakers after a spoken
word intro. The Melodic Death Metal with Swedish influences had a
huge impact on the audience and caused standin‘ ovations. It’s
not just that singer Gabriele Gianora shined with a masterly vocal
achievement and the guitarists Marco All and Lorenzo Barenco
dazzled with catchy guitar tunes but also a cover version of
Gotthard hit „Anytime, Anywhere“. This coverversion caused
standin’ ovations. In general you felt the musical enthusiasm
during the performance when the guitarists Marco All and Lorenzo
Barenco provided guitar duels between each other. A guitar solo
from Marco All caused furore during the last track „Drunk“. 25
Minutes were enough to convince the spectators. I take my hat off.

The
watch indicated after 9:00 PM and more people came inside the
Galery. The gig started off with a promising intro and therefore
the light was dimmed. The time was right for co-headliner Arcturon.
„In Lockstep“ opened the concert they kicked ass right from
the start. The spectators banged their heads and frenetically
celebrated ’em. They used this home game for a great kick ass
show. Singer Alosja Gasser can make reporters silent with his
voice, who call him a babyface. The performance ended with „Visions“
after 50 minutes and Arcturon earned a tribute of
appreciation for this outstandin’ performance.

interruption occured and the stage was prepared for headliner Disparaged.
They are are about ten years in the scene and belong to the creme
de la creme of Swiss Metal. „Bringer of Death“ pumped out the
speakers as first song on 10:50 PM the spectators were maltreated
with uncompromissin’ Death Metal. Two new songs were introduced
to the audience next to well-known songs. These tracks „Approaching
Underworld“ and „Depopulate“ gonna be on the upcomin‘ new
album „And Babylon Fell“. The release is on October 11 2013.
Some technical difficulties caused short breaks. However, a roadie
could fix the problem and the party could go on. Disparaged left
after 60 minutes and said goodbye to an enthusiastic audience.
They’ve really deserved this applause.

voller Highlights.
Mit
dem Indoor Festival „Swiss Metal Attack“ will das Z7 Team in
der Galery Music Bar zeigen, dass es in der Schweizer
Metal-Underground Szene nach wie vor heftig brodelt. Es gibt viele
gute Bands aber wenig Förderung was eine Schande ist. Deshalb ist
es erfreulich, dass das Z7 Team der Szene unter die Arme greift.
Der
heutige Abend stand ganz im Zeichen des Death Metal. Gleich vier
Schweizer Bands aus verschiedenen Gegenden der Schweiz wurden
gebucht. Als Headliner fungierten die altgedienten Death Metal
Truppe Disparaged und das Basellandschaftliche Melodic
Death Metal Kommando Arcturon als Co-Headliner. Den Support
übernahmen Soulline aus dem Kanton Tessin und Eye On
Perdition aus dem Kanton St. Gallen.
Um
19 Uhr war Türöffnung. 45 Minuten später standen Eye On
Perdition auf der Bühne. Die Sarganser gastierten zum ersten
Mal in der Region Basel und nahmen kurzerhand 15 Fans in einem Bus
mit zum Konzert. Ihr Stil zwischen Old School Thrash Metal und
Progressive / Brutal Death Metal stiess beim Publikum sofort auf
Anklang. Vor der Bühne liessen zahlreiche Fans ihre Matten
kreisen. Dies freute Sänger Gianluca Teofani so sehr, dass er
sich ein Lächeln nicht verkneifen konnte. Einigen Metallern
drehten bei der Musik durch und fingen an zu Moshen. Nach 35
Minuten verliessen Eye On Perdition die Bühne und
erhielten für ihren tollen Auftritt viel Applaus.

Nach
einer kurzen Umbaupause waren die Tessiner SoulLine an der
Reihe. Nach einem kurzen Spoken Word Intro folgte mit „Curse“
der erste Song. Der Melodic Death Metal schwedischer Prägung
schlug ein wie eine Bombe und löste Begeisterung aus. Nicht nur
das Sänger Gabriele Gianora stimmliche eine Glanzleistung zeigte
und die Gitarristen Marco All und Lorenzo Barenco mit eingängigen
Riffs verzückten, sondern auch eine gelungene Coverversion des
Gotthard Hits „Anytime Anywhere“. Diese Coverversion löste
einen Jubelsturm aus. Generell merkte man ihnen die Spielfreude
während des Auftritts an, was sich in Gitarrenduelle zwischen
Marco All und Lorenzo Barenco zeigte. Beim letzten Song „Drunk“
sorgte ein Gitarrensolo von Marco All für Furore. 25 Minuten
Spielzeit reichte um die Zuschauer zu überzeugen. Ich ziehe
meinen Hut.

Uhr zeigte nach 21 Uhr an und inzwischen waren mehr Leute in die
Galery. Um 21:35 Uhr erklang ein verheissungsvolles Intro und das
Licht wurde gedämpft. Nun war die Zeit reif für Co-Headliner Arcturon.
„In Lockstep“ eröffnete das Konzert und von Beginn weg gaben
sie Vollgas. Die Zuschauer liessen ihre Matten kreisen und
feierten sie frenetisch ab. Dieses Heimspiel nutzten sie aus und
legten einen tollen Auftritt hin. Auch wenn Journalisten Sänger
Aljosha Gasser optisch als Milchbubi betrachten, kann er alleine
mit seiner Stimme alle Kritiker zum Schweigen bringen. Nach 50
Minuten endete der Auftritt mit „Visions“ und Arcturon
ernteten Beifall für ihre herausragende Darbietung.

weitere Unterbrechung folgte und die Bühne wurde für den
Headliner Disparaged vorbereitet. Seit über 10 Jahren sind
sie im Musikbusiness aktiv und gehören zur Creme de la Creme der
Schweizer Metalszene. „Bringer Of „Death knallte als erste
Nummer um 22:50 Uhr aus den Boxen und die Zuschauer wurden mit
kompromisslosem Death Metal malträtiert. Neben bekannten Songs
kam das Publikum in den Genuss von zwei brandneuen Songs. Diese
Songs „Approaching Underworld“ und „Depopulate“ befinden
sich auf dem neuen Album „And Babylon Fell“, welches am 11.
Oktober 2013 erscheinen wird. Ein paar technische Probleme mit dem
Schlagzeug sorgten für kurze Pausen. Allerdings konnten sie dank
dem einem Techniker behoben werden. Die Party konnte weitergehen.
Nach einer Stunde Spielzeit verabschiedeten sich Disparaged
vom enthusiastischen Publikum. Den Applaus hatten sie sich redlich
verdient.
