The second chapter of the  trilogy of films adapting the masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien is the perfect sequel we were waiting for. The movie takes place  obviously in Middle-earth 60 years before “The Lord of the Rings”. The impending coming of a strong evil that Gandalf believed it was won and vanquished thousands of years earlier is clear to be perceived, even those who havent read the book can now better understand the roots and the circumstances which brought to the story of "The Lord of the Rings" .

Bilbo Baggin`s journey with the 13 dwarves, Gandalf and Thorin Oakenshield to the Lonely Mountain in search of the hidden door to Erebor is articulated as a true adventure which develops among great landscapes but also among many different mesmerizing interiors, with much predawn shade and night time and fire and water effects .  The Wood-elves under the rule of King Thranduil are true warriors who attack with rapid-fire bows. Leaders are Legolas(Orlando Bloom) and Tauriel, played by Evangeline Lilly. “It’s amazing to be back,” says Orlando Bloom “‘The Lord of the Rings’ films were such a treasured experience for me, and I’m so happy to have the opportunity to return to this world and this character. And, better yet, I got into my old costume when I came back, and it still fit!”
We experience the growing wrath of the orks and the wrath of Dragon Smaug.
We experience the race of men represented by the lake-dwellers of the decaying Lake Town and its wooden houses. We experience the desolation of Smaug: the land destroyed by dragon Smaug all around the Lonely Mountain with the ruins of the City of Dale.  After decades in exile, Dwarf Prince Thorin Oakenshield wants to reclaim the old Kingdom trying to awaken it from its aftermath. But Smaug is still there as sentinel of the treasure and of the arkenstone. The winged Smaug is red, spits fire, is big and intelligent. Bilbo's quest is to find the arkenstone, which is so important for Thorin Oakenshiled. The encounter between Smaug and the little Hobbit Bilbo is an encounter between two different yet intelligent and smart characters who give to the quest in Erebor an awesome  final touch.
