Moroni – Vocals & Keyboards Surrender to a sound cocktail. So
far I knew only the Symphonic Metallers Solsticio from the capitol Buenos
Aires, Argentina. Now I was contacted by a project called Zaiph from Buenos
Aires and they asked me to listen to their self-titled album. Zaiph is a project from Argentine singer and keyboarder Nicolàs Moroni (ex ChinelasPersas and Norditual). He initiated this project in 2009 in order to realize his musical visions. Bassist Nanci Bochatay, guitarrist Guillermo Esser and drummer Gaston Pesce support him. The self-titled record „Zaiph“ is the second release after the debut „Echlectic“ in 2011. Despite of his predecessor „Echlectic“ all songs are in Spanish even when „Flashback“ is a song with an English title. The Argentineans indulge in a simple and interestin‘ sound cocktail of Thrash, Heavy, Doom, Gothic Rock, Hard Rock and Psychedelic influences.
The songs
convince with raw power and singularity through the good work of Alejandro
Ortiz and Patricio „Pato“ Claypole. This variation makes the present
work to a listenin‘ pleasure and you don’t get bored after repeated
listenin‘. In an era, which is characterized by monotony, projects like
Zaiph stand out from the crowd and show the listener that creativity and the
courage to be different is still available. At the beginning I wasn‘t sure
what to expect, but after the first sound this uncertainty vanished. It’s unbelievable that a project like „Zaiph“
hasn’t attracted the attention of record labels yet. Here music is
performed at a professional level, what I appreciate, because the production
seems homogenous and not sterile as productions of other projects. The
eight songs on „Zaiph“ make fun and I would be delighted to experience
the Argentineans live once. They could perform with national bands in front
of the audience. You
should listen to„Zaiph“ if you’re an open minded person, who has no
inhibitions and is able to surrender to a sound cocktail of Thrash, Heavy,
Doom, Gothic Rock, Hard Rock and psychedelic influences in which the
atmosphere by keyboards isn’t too short.

Bisher
kannte ich aus Argentinien lediglich die Symphonic Metaller Solsticio aus
der Hauptstadt Buenos Aires. Nun wurde ich von einem Projekt namens
„Zaiph“ aus Buenos Aires kontaktiert und gebeten mir ihr
selbstbetiteltes Album anzuhören. Zaiph
ist ein Projekt des argentinischen Sänger und Keyboarder Nicolás Moroni
(ex ChinelasPersas und Norditual). Er hat dieses Projekt im Jahre 2009
initiiert um seine musikalischen Visionen zu verwirklichen. Unterstützt
wird er dabei durch Bassistin Nanci Bochatay, die auch als Sängerin
fungiert, Gitarrist Guillermo Esser und Schlagzeuger Gaston Pesce. Das
selbstbetitelte Werk „Zaiph“ ist die zweite Veröffentlichung nachdem
2011 mit „Echlectic“ ein erstes Lebenszeichen erschienen war. Im
Gegensatz zum Vorgänger „Echlectic“ sind alle Songs auf „Zaiph“ in
Spanisch, auch wenn „Flashback“ ein Lied mit englischem Titel darstellt.
Die Argentinier frönen auf „Zaiph“ einem eingängigen und zugleich
interessanten Klangcocktail aus Thrash, Heavy, Doom, Gothic Rock, Hard Rock
und psychedelischen Einflüssen. Dank
der guten Arbeit durch Alejandro Ortiz und Patricio „Pato“ Claypole überzeugen
die acht Lieder auf „Zaiph“ durch ihre rohe Power und Eigenständigkeit.
Diese Abwechslung macht das vorliegende Werk zu einem Hörvergnügen und es
wird nach mehrmaligem Hören nicht langweilig. In einer Zeit, die von Eintönigkeit
geprägt ist, stechen Projekte wie „Zaiph“ aus der Masse heraus und
zeigen dem Hörer, dass Kreativität und Mut zum anders sein nach wie vor
vorhanden ist. Zu
Beginn war ich mir nicht sicher, was mich erwarten würde, aber nach den
ersten Klängen verflog diese Ungewissheit. Es ist einfach unglaublich, dass
ein Projekt wie „Zaiph“ noch keine Aufmerksamkeit bei Plattenfirmen
generieren konnte. Hier wird auf einem professionellen Level musiziert was
ich wertschätze, denn die Produktion wirkt homogen und nicht steril wie bei
Produktionen anderer Projekte. Die
acht Lieder auf „Zaiph“ machen viel Spass und es würde mich freuen, die
Argentinier irgendwann einmal live zu erleben. Durch Auftritte mit
nationalen Bands konnten sie sich schon vor Publikum präsentieren. Wer
offen gegenüber neuem ist und keine Hemmungen hat, sich einem Klangcocktail
aus Thrash, Heavy, Doom, Gothic Rock, Hard Rock und psychedelischen Einflüssen
hinzugeben, bei dem auch die Atmosphäre dank Keyboards nicht zu kurz kommt,
sollte „Zaiph“ unbedingt anhören. 9.7/10 CD-Kritik von Dominic Latscha
Hasta
ahora yo sólo conocía la banda de Symphonic Metal Solsticio de Buenos
Aires, Argentina. Un proyecto con el nombre Zaiph de Buenos Aires me ha
contactado para escuchar autotitulado su disco. Zaiph
es un proyecto del cantante y keyboarder Argentino Nicolàs Moroni (ex
ChinelasPersas y Norditual). El inició este proyecto en 2009 para satisfar
sus visiones musicales. La bajista y cantante Nanci Bochatay, el guitarrista
Guillermo Esser y el batería Gaston Pesce le apoyan. El autotitulado disco „Zaiph“
es la segunda publicación después de su debut „Echlectic“ en 2011. A
differencia del disco predecesor „Echlectic“, todas las canciones son en
Español aunque la canción de „Flashback“ tenga un titulo en inglés.
Los Argentinos pueden disfrutar de un interesante y simple cóctel de
sonidos de Thrash, Heavy, Doom, Gothic Rock, Hard Rock e influencas psicodélicas. Las
canciones convencen por la singularidad y fuerza bruta gracias a la buena
labor de Alejandro Ortiz y Patricio „Pato“ Claypole. Esta variedad hace
que sea una gozada escuchar este disco, incluso repetidas veces. En una era
caracterizada por la monotonía, proyectos de Zaiph destacan de la masa y
demuestran al oyente, que creatividad y coraje para ser diferente todavía
existen. Al
principo no estaba seguro de qué esperar, pero después de los primeros
sonidos lami incertidumbre desapareció. Es increíble que un proyecto de
Zaiph no atraiga la atención de compañias discogràficas. Su música es de
un nivel altamente professional, que yo aprecio mucho, porque la producción
es homogénea y no estéril como las producciónes de otros proyectos. Las
ocho canciones en „Zaiph“ entretienen. Yo estaría encantando de ver en
vivo a los Argentinos. Podrían darse a conocer actuando con otros grupos
nacionales. Quien
esté abierto a lo nuevo y no tenga inhibiciones, podrá disfrutar de un cóctel
de sonido de Thrash, Heavy, Doom, Gothic Rock, Hard Rock e influencas psicodélicas
en el que la atmósfera gracias al teclados no es demasiada corta debe
escuchar „Zaiph“. 9.7/10 Crítica
