Pioneers
of NYHC scene.
A
new music genre called New York Hardcore (NYHC) was created in New York
City, when Ronald Reagan was the president of the United States in the
80’s. Agnostic Front, Sick Of It All and Madball
became the pioneers of that scene. Shows at legendary venue CBGB made
Hardcore known locally and soon worldwide. The fusion of Punk Rock with
metal guitars and lyrics about social and political problems gets a lot
of recognition from the audience. Madball returned to
Sommercasino after they played a show with Agnostic Front at this venue
two years ago. Furthermore they also returned for playing the postponed
show from July 15 2013.
The
doors opened on 7 PM and you could enter the venue. Awaken Demons
should’ve started playin’ on 7:30 PM but a delay occured and they
entered the stage 25 minutes later. They put much effort into the
performance and some fans liked the music so much and began with violent
dancing.
The
music had been very groovy and with much bass but the audience was
reserved. That changed when Invoker singer David entered the stage to
sing „You don’t know me“ with Awaken Demons singer Luca
Zattoni. The performance ended after 35 minutes with a cover version of
Ini Kamoze evergreen „I’m The Hotstepper“. A nice introduction.

After
that Zurich’s Vale Tudo was the next band. They performed at
„Earshaker Day 2012“ in Basel one year ago. They describe their
music as „Grillmoshcore“ and it received much positive feedback from
the audience and a battle field in front of the stage was created.
Moshing alternated with stagediving like in the good ol‘ days. Both
singers Ozumo & DK Violent rocked steady the audience. No time for a
break!
This
event was perticular, because Rick Dürst from legendary Cataract, which
split-up was behind the drums. The regular drummer Grillmaster V has
been on vacation. That’s why Ricky got a look-in what I liked much.
The fans had been infected 45 minutes with „Grillmoshcore“ before
the last track „You spurn what I love“ was played. Vale Tudo
received standing ovations for the performance.

Madball
entered the stage on
10:15 PM and received euphoric reactions from 200 spectators. Freddy
Cricien & his boys kicked ass right from the start and turned the
Sommercasino into a madhouse. The spectators went freakin’ nutz and
moshed around during others were stagedivin’. Thunderous applause from
the audience followed when singer Freddy Cricien announced, that they
start workin‘ on a new album after their return to the USA. It‘s
sceduled as release in 2014.
However
the spectators weren’t satisfied after the regular set. Madball
had to come on stage one more time for an encore. The kick ass track „Hardcore
Still Lives“ followed. Then the show was over and the spectators were
satisfied. 60 minutes with an encore is worthy of a headliner.

Livebericht

Pioniere
der NYHC Szene.
In
in New York City eine neue Musikrichtung namens New York Hardcore
(NYHC). Als Pioniere dieser Szene gingen Agnostic Front, Sick
Of It All und Madball hervor.
Luca Zattoni abzurocken. Nach 35 Minuten und einem Cover vom Ini
Kamoze Hit „I’m the Hotstepper“ endete der Auftritt. Ein guter
Einstieg in den Abend.

Danach
waren die Zürcher Vale Tudo dran. Vor einem Jahr spielten sie
am „Earshaker Day 2012“ in Basel.
Darum kam
Ricky Dürst zum Zug, was ich toll fand. 45 Minuten lang wurden die
Fans mit „Grillmoshcore“ infiziert bevor mit „You spurn what I
love“ das letzte Lied erklang. Vale Tudo wurden mit viel
Applaus verabschiedet.

Still Lives“ folgen. Dann war Schluss und die Zuschauer waren
zufriedengestellt. 60 Minuten Spielzeit mit Zugabe ist eines
Headliners würdig.

Ein
toller Abend war zu Ende gegangen. Danke ans Sommercasino Team, den
