Eidyllion
was born on April the 16th of 1999 in a town named Atizapán
de Zaragoza, close to Mexico City. Samael and Salaí leaded the
band since the beginning, Samael on the musical way and Salai on lyrics
and management. their debut album was called “Nashgaa” (2000).
Followed by “Gymnopaidía del Leteo” (2002) The
recording of “Amorka” (like the Chaldaic goddess of moon and sea)
started on November of 2004, the album was totally recorded on March of
2005. Since December of 2005 the violinist Africa Santiago completed the
actual Eidyllion’s line-up. Five months later the dancer and performer
Astrid Marlen was added to the line up. Eydillion is a band where many different styles melt to provide an incredible experience to the listener. Here the listener can identify a little bit of Doom, some gothic and Folk Metal elements in their work. They define their style as: SURREALISTA NATURA MUSICA.
The
first track is called : “Dogal al Nirvana”
which as it’s title suggest is clearly influence by Buddhism. It’s
actually a cool intro track. The
second track “Dragonfly” is
completely different. It starts really slow and then a musical operatic
fantasy begins. I’m quite impressed with the vocal performance of
Salai who does all kinds of singing styles. The
third track is called “Moria”.
This track is in Spanish with very imaginative lyrics. In this track the
vocal approach is more narrative. My guess is that it emphasis the
dramatic climax of the song. Track number 4 is a high point for me. this is my favorite track in this production. The track is called “Astracanada invernal”. This song features a dual vocal assault to your senses. And really provides a real proof that the vocal range of Salai is excellent. The operatic sweet voice is opposed to the dark furious aggression of the black-metalish vocals. “La
Llorona”
is a Latin folk tale about a female ghost. With
lyrics in English and Spanish, " Amorka" is an album compelled
by mysterious moods that generates images and stories in your mind. The
music is astonishing with all kind of shapes and structures that are
indeed genuine and unique. rating: 9/10
