La quarta edizione del festival metal "PogaParty", un'icona ormai del panorama underground sulle rive del Trasimeno, si terrà a Passignano sul Trasimeno (PG) Sabato 17 Febbraio a partire dalle ore 16:00 presso l'auditorium-cinema "Urbani", Piazzale E. Acton. L'associazione culturale giovanile "SensaSenzo" di Passignano, visto il successo ottenuto nelle tre precedenti edizioni della rassegna musicale "PogaParty" (a cui hanno partecipato band del calibro di Necrodeath, Stormlord e Subliminal Crusher) in termini di partecipazione di band musicali e di pubblico, ha deciso di replicare l’evento: l'edizione di quest'anno è stata pensata migliorata e ingrandita, che inizi nel primo pomeriggio con l'esibizione delle band locali, e continui fino a sera tarda con lo show di band di portata nazionale come Infernal Poetry e Node. L’intenzione degli organizzatori è quella di sfruttare l’evento come vero e proprio trampolino di lancio per il futuro dell’evento stesso e per l’associazione “SensaSenzo”, che, a dispetto del nome, ha saputo creare dal nulla, con il prezioso supporto dell’Amministrazione Comunale, una manifestazione musicale underground tra le più importanti del centro Italia e che intenderebbe, budget permettendo, puntare nei prossimi anni ancora più in alto, per arrivare a coinvolgere band di portata internazionale, italiane e non. Quest'anno inoltre il PogParty si avvarrà del prezioso supporto delle webzine METALWAVE (www.metalwave.it) e DOREMILLA (www.doremilla.org), due entità da sempre interessate al supporto degli eventi musicali underground dell'Umbria. Saranno presenti stand con vendita di cd e merchandising ed un bar. Si spera che il successo e la risonanza dell’evento possano far aprire gli occhi di molte persone, anche non del settore, sull’interesse di moltissimi giovani ad iniziative di questo tipo e che magari in futuro si investano più energie su di esse, almeno in maniera proporzionale alla percentuale di popolazione coinvolta.

INFERNAL POETRY

Band formatasi ad Ancona nel 1996, è ad oggi uno dei più importanti act death metal italiani. Unisce elementi sonori derivanti dalla tradizione brutal americana con le melodie dello swedish-death, elvolvendosi di cd in cd verso toni schizofrenici e disturbanti. Con alle spalle un'importante attività live in tutta Europa (con Dismember, Rotting Christ, Behemoth, Impiety ed altri ancora), che li ha portati alla definizione di "killer live act", propongono anche in Italia il loro "schizo death metal", originale e devastante. Thrash/Death Metal da Terni. Attiva dal lontano 1992, la band prende il nome di Società a Responsabilità Limitata per rendere omaggio alle gloriose band italiane del passato come la PFM (Premiata Forneria Marconi) ed il Banco del Mutuo Soccorso. Autrice di un Thrash Metal dalle coordinate melodiche e cantato in lingua madre, la S.R.L., dopo un recente cambio di line-up che ha visto entrare il nuovo cantante Khaynn in formazione, sta per pubblicare il suo quarto album in studio, "Mutatio Et Maestitia".

Power/Thrash Metal da Perugia. MALENCOLIE

Black-death metal band proveniente da Passignano i MALENCOLIE nascono nel 2000 come band gothic metal. Dopo l'uscita di due demo cd autoprodotti e un cospicuo numero di date live, tra cui le tre edizioni del PogaParty, e dopo alcuni cambiamenti di lineup la band decide, dopo più di 5 anni dalla nascità, che è ora di schiarirsi le idee; il 2006, l'anno sabbatico dei MALENCOLIE, fa si che il loro sound si plasmi in una sorta di black metal con intrecci death. E' prevista per la primavera del 2007 l'uscita del nuovo demo “HOLYCAUST".

MALEDICTA

Band che mischia influenze crossover, black, gothic ed elettroniche che nel Febbraio 2003 sono sfociate nell’originale proposta “Eruptions From Insides”, un full-length di eccellente produzione e qualità, che ha procurato loro esibizioni live come spalla dei Dark Funeral e dei Necrodeath (PogaParty ‘04). BOOKS OF BLOOD

Death Metal da Perugia. Cover Band che vede in formazione musicisti della scena metal perugina anni '90, riuniti per riproporre death metal old-style, dagli Slayer ai Sepultura, dai Malevolent Creation ai Cannibal Corpse, fino ai Morbid Angel. Formatisi nel 2005, con alle spalle un debutto live di spalla ai T.E.R. fanno dell'impatto e della potenza le loro armi principali on-stage.

IM.PATTO

Band crossover metal, dopo due demo autoprodotti e la partecipazione a due compilation, approdano ora al primo disco ufficiale, "Demoni e Tiranni". Di base crossover, il quintetto di Assisi unisce sonorità metal più moderne (nu-metal/alternative) alla tradizione thrash anni '80/'90, creando un notevole coinvolgimento all'ascolto, specialmente in sede live.

Finnish melodic metallers SONATA ARCTICA have begun mixing their new album at Finnvox studio in Helsinki. "There is not much more I can say about the music," keyboardist Henkka Klingenberg writes on the group's web site. "Generally I feel that trying to describe music with words is basically like having someone telling the radio news by playing a piano piece.....you can't win, and will definitely not know what's going on. Veteran Florida-based extreme metallers MALEVOLENT CREATION have commenced the recording sessions for their tenth full-length album, "Doomsday X". "Dave Culross finished tracking the drums and is very happy with the twelve songs," the band writes in an update. "They achieved a very natural feel, without sounding overly mechanical.”

"Since the release of the first 'Split' demo release in 2004, For Ruin has developed into a respected force within the Irish metal scene. The second demo/promo ' Shade' was released in summer 2005 to widespread international critical acclaim and has served to introduce many people to the band's music. Since then, the band has found it feet in the live arena, including a well received set at Ireland's Terrorizer-sponsored Day of Darkness festival (with Destruction, Primordial etc.) during the summer of '06 along with slots with Decapitated, Madder Mortem and Ireland's Mael Mordha. The band has since appeared on a Terrorizer unsigned-special CD, been reviewed in Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles, and was featured as part of the Republic of Ireland scene report in Terrorizer's August '06 edition. Countless ´zines have since covered the band, many printing interviews with the band. In the January '07 edition of Terrorizer, the band was awarded the position of the 9 ^th best unsigned band.

For Ruin is a metal band based in Cork, Ireland with John Murphy as the founder member. The band has existed for quite a time, with tracks being written as far back as 1998 – however the first demo had to wait until late 2003 to be recorded. The first split-demo (with Meiche) was released in limited quantities by Murphy during late 2003 / early 2004. The Shade promo was written, performed and recorded in Valencia, Spain, during the summer of 2005. Murphy returned to Ireland in September ´05 and put together the first line up of the band, playing around Ireland and culminating in an appearance at the Day of Darkness, marking the end of gigs supporting the Shade promo.

With a change in personnel, Murphy has been joined by Drew Myers, Barry O´Sullivan and Barry English on guitar, bass and drums respectively. The band are currently preparing for a number of upcoming gigs supporting For Ruin´s latest offering Obsidian".

 ABORTED

Belgian masters of brutality ABORTED have just launched their new website at www.goremageddon.be in anticipation of their new album, "Slaughter & Apparatus: A Methodical Overture", which is set for a February 20 release. According to a press release, "Slaughter & Apparatus: A Methodical Overture" is "an astounding new album, refreshing, massive and graced with all trademarks of an instant classic: memorable and inventive song structures, over-the-top musicianship, a natural and warm yet up-to-date production and a feel of timelessness rarely seen in the genre nowadays. ABORTED are more than prepared to shatter the boundaries of extreme metal and set new standards." The disc was recorded at Denmark's Antfarm Studios with producer/engineer Tue Madsen (HIMSA, THE HAUNTED), and includes guest vocal performances by Jeff Walker (ex-CARCASS) and Jacob Bredahl (HATESPHERE).

Sven De Caluwe further describes the new effort: "Expect an album which more or less condenses what we've been doing over the last three albums, with some fresh elements added in. It's definitely a lot more extreme, with more solo mayhem than 'The Archaic Abattoir', while still retaining the groove and melodies we have been building on. We promise that you will not be disappointed."

ABORTED caught the attention of the entire scene on their highly successful debut U.S. tour with SUFFOCATION and Century Media labelmates CRYPTOPSY and DESPISED ICON last fall. The band plans on aggressively touring the U.S. next year to keep their momentum going strong in support of the new album.

DOWN — the acclaimed New Orleans band featuring CORROSION OF CONFORMITY guitarist/vocalist Pepper Keenan, drummer Jimmy Bower (EYEHATEGOD, SUPERJOINT RITUAL guitarist), bassist Rex Brown (ex-PANTERA), guitarist Kirk Windstein (CROWBAR), and vocalist Philip Anselmo (SUPERJOINT RITUAL, ex-PANTERA) — has confirmed rumors that it will tour North America in March as the opening act for HEAVEN AND HELL and MOTÖRHEAD. DOWN will play a total of 10 shows as part of the package and will also perform four headlining gigs on the East Coast.

The HEAVEN AND HELL / MOTÖRHEAD / DOWN tour will kick off in Vancouver, British Columbia, on March 3 and play at least seven shows across Canada, including Toronto, Montreal and Quebec City. An exclusive New York City date is also planned. ***Unconfirmed*** tour dates so far are as follows:

 KATAKLYSM

Vocalist Maurizio Iacono of the Canadian death metallers KATAKLYSM has issued the following update:

"Here we are in Europe and we couldn't be happier with how the shows have gone. We already had some sold out shows in Holland and Germany and every show has been packed and I've never seen so many energetic fans in my entire career — just crazy... It's only the first week and it's definitly the start of something great. You can just feel it. Especialy tonight... We played Copenhagen and it was killer... We finished playing and I just got out of the shower when our tour manager David comes running in the backstage and orders everyone to evacuate all the bands because the club we played cought on fire!... There was smoke everywhere, but luckily no one got hurt. The funny thing is that they told us to take the most important things out fast — wallets, passports, etc. So we're all running out and our drummer Max leaves his shit behind but takes the case of beer and runs out!!! He almost ran out naked 'my fucking beer!!' Haha! Fucking funny if you were there, it was priceless... OK, tomorrow we play the Hellraiser club in Leipzig... Time to burn it down, you're next!! Anyways, fucking great tour and NEAERA, FEAR MY THOUGHTS and our old friends QUO VADIS have been really nice to hang with and cool to watch live."

KATAKLYSM recently dismissed as a "rumor" the report that the band will be teaming up with UNLEASHED, BELPHEGOR and WYKKED WYTCH for a European tour between May 14 and June 3. According to the band, KATAKLYSM "is exploring possibilities, but it's still not confirmed. Until a statement is released by KATAKLYSM, these are only rumors. The band will issue a current tour update/report in the next few days."

 DEICIDE

DEICIDE drummer Steve Asheim has released a statement explaining the band's decision to go ahead with their current European tour despite bassist/vocalist Glen Benton's absence.

As previously reported, Seth van Loo (SEVERE TORTURE, NOX, CENTURION) is handling the vocal duties for the first four dates of the tour (including tonight's show in Rotterdam, Holland). Beginning with tomorrow night's (January 9) concert in Manchester, England, b>Garbaty "Yaha" from the Polish death metal band DISSENTER) will join DEICIDE on bass/vocals and perform at all the shows until Benton is able to rejoin the trek.

Commented Asheim: "DEICIDE understand how weird it is to tour without mainman Glen Benton, but considering other cancellations by the band in recent years, the option to cancel again is just not feasible to anyone, least of all the band. When weighing the options of cancelling or doing some shows without him, continuing on with the tour seems the only true metal thing to do... the show must go on. And fans agree, as turnout has not been affected and fans leave the show feeling satisfied the band did all the could to dish out the metal. DEICIDE look forward to Glen rejoining the tour as soon as possible, but until then, the tour continues, as scheduled."

RAGE

German metal institution RAGE found a replacement for ex-drummer Mike Terrana quite quickly. "We proudly present our new man on the drums, André Hilgers. While working on the Nuclear Blast Anniversary album we were very surprised how perfectly André`s style matched our new song "Terrified". Read HERE more!

LEGION OF THE DAMNED

LEGION OF THE DAMNED (formerly OCCULT) have been confirmed as the support act for the European co-headlining tour featuring Germany's KREATOR and Switzerland's CELTIC FROST. The trek is scheduled to kick off March 8 in Köln, Germany. A complete list of dates can be found at KREATOR's official web site.

LEGION OF THE DAMNED released its second album, "Sons of the Jackal", on January 5 via Massacre Records. The follow-up to 2006's "Malevolent Rapture" was recorded at Stage One studio in Bühne, Germany with producer Andy Classen. The songs from the CD — "Diabolist" and "Sepulchral Ghoul" — can be streamed via the band's official MySpace page.
