What else can you ask for? Power metal at its best!
From
Campana, Argentina comes the power metal force of DAGORLAD. This band was formed in 2004, featuring an ensemble of great
musicians. They quickly make a name for themselves and revitalized the
metal scene in their province. Their
music is powerful and filled with melody. A prime example of what can be
achieved through hard work and determination. All the elements to create
a successful band are here catchy riffs, great vocals, and epic lyrics.
What else can you ask for? Power metal at its best! Tracks: “This
The Glorious Day” The opening chapter of this production, a track that is energetic and powerful. Like a melodic tornado coming for you. My first impression is that they have a couple of excellent guitarists. Who complemented their power and speed with very technical composition. The drum work is quite impressive, with a machine-gun-like double bass and insane speed. Keyboards add some depth and texture to the songs as well. “Day
And Shadows” Title
song. This is a very interesting song because of the variety of styles
that collide in here. The arrangements of the song are headed towards a
more progressive style. But
still all the kinetic energy and passion remain. There is a vocal duet in this song; it’s actually is a quite interesting combination, With Carlos Spiazzi providing some graspy vocals.
“In
The Enemy-s Search” A track filled with skillful solos and harmonic choruses. “Unanswered” This song it’s an instant classic. Great melody and powerful vocal performance. “On
The Horizon” This
is another epic track that takes us to the battlefield. The soundtrack
for the war between good and evil.
This is my favorite track and the most memorable. As
in the other songs the guitar virtuosity is just mesmerizing. The solo
duel is one of the best I’ve heard.
As well as the use of keyboards that perfectly complements the
epic atmosphere. Vocals
are very good performed by Neri Perez. He has a strong, charismatic
voice and utilizes it excellently, bursting out with confidence and
passion. Many Latin-American power metal vocalists sing only looking for
the high notes , And that-s quite annoying. But Neri has a voice that is
powerful, melodic and extremely enjoyable. The
band closes this album with an extra tack. A Spanish version of their
song “Unanswered”. I have always wondered why Spanish-speaking bands
never include versions of their songs in their mother tongue. It adds a
little extra and results somehow exotic and refreshing. Especially when
you have a 5 song disk. I
can honestly say that the sound of this band combines the necessary
speed, heaviness, aggression, and melody to make any metal head go
ballistic. written by Alexander Ramirez 22.02.2010 Alex Ramirez is a staff writer/editor for gryphonmetal.ch since 2006 He is based in Costa Rica and can be reached at myspace.
