The
best kept secret of Argentina is back. What I’m talkin’ about
here is Solsticio,
which convinced me with their first EP “Winter Solstice”. Now
they issue their first debut record “Lost Souls”. Thanks to
their great performance, Solsticio
could perform as support act of former Nightwish singer Tarja
Turunen and received a great deal of positive feedback.
The
path that led to the debut record was far from easy, because
drummer Sergio Prieto left the band for personal reasons after the
recording process. Concededly, he still played two shows with Solsticio
after the release of “Lost Souls”. Fortunately, drummer Pol
returned to the band which he left two years ago.
The
three tracks “Free Me”, “Lost Souls” and the Loreena
McKennitt cover version “Mummer’s Dance” are from “Winter
Solstice” EP. Concededly there are five new songs, which I want
introduce you.
“Triumph”
starts with Tango sounds before it’s gettin’ heavier and
Carolina starts singin’. Vocally she reminds me a little bit of
Tarja Turunen, because their voices are similar.
“Fairytale”
begins orchestral and its atmosphere reminds a little bit of the
hit single “Hijo De La Luna” by dutch singer Loona. Carried by
this classic music guise Carolina’s singin’ fits right in
before Pablo pushes away the spherical sounds with guitar tunes
and it gets heavier. On 4:00 the guitar solo by him is
overwhelming.
“Greed”
has a smooth Nightwish touch and reminds of “Century Child”
days. What the song makes special is Pablo’s catchy guitar tunes
and Carolia’s vocals. On 1:50 Indian sounds start before a break
occurs. This break is over when Pablo sets the guitar tunes again.
“Celtic”
begins with an Irish Folk touch. I liked it much and it’s a
welcome change from the other bands which relate a certain scheme.
That’s definitely not the case in here. In addition here is the
perfect example how a symbiosis of Folk and Metal should sound.
“Lost
Souls” is a further listenin’ enjoyment of Solsticio,
that convinces me and I’ve a lot of fun when I listen to it.
Eight
points are for the powerful production and for the musical
performance. I give another point for the cover that is a further
link to the Argentinean origin next to the musical influences. I
very much appreciate this, because they never deny their roots! So
I think this is a thing that I feel strongly about.

best gehütete Geheimnis von Argentinien.
Das
best gehütete Geheimnis von Argentinien meldet sich zurück. Die
Rede ist von niemand geringerem als Solsticio,
welche mich mit ihrer ersten EP „Winter Solstice“ überzeugt
hatten. Nun legen sie mit „Lost Souls“ ihr erstes Debütalbum
vor. Dank guten Auftritten konnten Solsticio im Vorprogramm von Ex-Nightwishsängerin Tarja Turunen
auftreten und bekamen überwiegend positive Reaktionen.
Der Weg
zum Debütalbum war alles andere als einfach, denn Schlagzeuger
Sergio Prieto quittierte aus persönlichen Gründen seinen Dienst
und stieg nach den Aufnahmen
aus. Allerdings spielte er noch zwei Konzerte mit Solsticio
nach der Veröffentlichung von „Lost Souls“. Glücklicherweise
kehrte Schlagzeuger Pol Solsticio zur Band zurück, nachdem er vor
zwei Jahren ausgestiegen war.
Auf dem
vorliegenden ersten Album sind mit „Free Me“, „Lost Souls“
und dem Loreena McKennitt Cover „Mummer’s Dance“ drei Songs
von der „Winter Solstice“ EP vertreten. Allerdings sind auch fünf
neue Songs vorhanden, welche ich euch nun näher bringen möchte.
„Triumph“
läutet das Album mit Tango Klängen ein ehe der Härtegrad
anzieht und Carolinas Gesang einsetzt. Stimmlich erinnerte sie
mich ein wenig an Tarja Turunen was daran liegt, dass die Stimmen
ähnlich sind.
„Fairytale“
beginnt orchestral und erinnert von der Atmosphäre her an den Hit
„Hijo De La Luna“ von der niederländischen Sängerin Loona.
Getragen von dem klassischen Musikgewand fügt sich Carolinas
Gesang nahtlos ein, ehe Pablo mit Gitarrenriffs die sphärischen
Klänge beiseite schiebt und der Härtegrad anzieht. Ab 4:00 folgt
ein melodisches Gitarrensolo von ihm, welches runter geht wie
Honig.
„Greed“
hat einen leichten Nighwish Einfluss und erinnert an vergangene
„Century Child“ Zeiten. Was den Song besonders macht sind
Pablos eingängige Gitarrenriffs und Carolinas Gesang. Ab 1:50
setzen indische Klänge ein, ehe für einen Moment Ruhe einkehrt.
Diese Ruhe wird jedoch durchbrochen, wenn Pablos Gitarrenriffs
einsetzen.
„Celtic“
beginnt mit einem irischen Folk Einfluss. Mir persönlich gefällt
das sehr, denn es ist eine willkommene Abwechslung gegenüber
anderen Bands, welche nach einem bestimmten Schema vorgehen. Das
ist hier definitiv nicht der Fall. Ausserdem ist hier das perfekte
Beispiel wie eine Symbiose aus Folk und Metal klingen sollte.
„Lost
Souls“ ist ein weiterer Hörerguss von Solsticio,
der mich überzeugt und es macht mir Spass der Band zuzuhören.

Punkte gibt es für die druckvolle Produktion und für die
musikalische Leistung. Einen weiteren Punkt vergebe ich für das
Albumcover, welches neben den Einflüssen in ihrer Musik einen
weiteren Verweis auf die argentinische Herkunft widerspiegelt.
Dies rechne ich der Band hoch an, denn sie verleugnen zu keinem
Zeitpunkt ihre Wurzeln! Das ist in meinen Augen ein Punkt, der mir
sehr wichtig ist!

secreto mejor guardado de la Argentina está de vuelta. Estoy
hablando de Solsticio, quienes ya habian llamado mi atención con
su Ep “Winter Solstice“. Ahora, lanzaron su disco debut
"Lost Souls". Gracias a su gran actuación, Solsticio
pudo ser banda telonera de Tarja Turunen y recibió una gran
cantidad de comentarios positivos.
El
camino que llevó al debut del disco no fue nada fácil, ya que el
baterista Sergio Prieto dejó la banda por motivos personales
luego del lanzamiento. Afortunadamente, el Baterista Pol regresó
a la banda que había dejado hace dos años.
Las
tres canciones: "Free Me", "Lost Souls" y la
versión de la cancion de Loreena McKennitt "Mummer’s
Dance", son del EP "Winter Solstice" . Ahora,
tienen 5 canciones nuevas que les quiero presentar.
"Triumph"
comienza con un sonido de Tango , se va haciendo cada vez mas
pesado y Carolina comienza a cantar. Vocalmente, me recuerda un
poco a la cantante Tarja turunen porque sus voces son similares.
"Fairytale"
comienza con una orquesta y
su atmosfera me recuerda un poco al éxito "Hijo De La
Luna" de la cantante holandesa Loona. Seguida de esta música
clásica el canto de Carolina encaja a la perfección justo antes
de que Pablo haga a un lado los sonidos esféricos con melodías
de guitarra y se vaya haciendo mas pesado. En el minuto 4:00 el
solo de guitarra por él es abrumador.
"Greed"
tiene un suave toque de Nightwish y me recuerda a los tiempos de
"Century Child" . Lo que la hace especial son las
melodías pegadizas de la guitarra de Pablo y la voz de Carolina.
En el minuto 1:50 comienzan sonidos hindúes cuando se produce una
ruptura. Esta ruptura se acaba cuando Pablo vuelve las melodías
de guitarra.
"Celtic"
comienza con un toque de
folk irlandés. Me gustó mucho y es un cambio agradable de las
otras bandas que se relacionan con un esquema determinado. Eso
definitivamente no es el caso aquí. Además este es el ejemplo
perfecto de cómo una simbiosis de Folk y Metal debe sonar.
"Lost
Souls" es una forma mas profunda de disfrutar escuchando a
Solsticio, me convence y me divierte.

puntos son por la produccion poderosa y por la performance
musical. Les doy otro punto por la portada que es un enlace a los
orígenes argentinos seguido de sus influencias musicales. Aprecio
mucho esto, porque nunca negaron sus raíces! Asi, que esta es una
de las cosas que me parece muy importante.
