Nightwish, Within Temptation, Epica and many others may have something to worry about.

The solstice is an astronomical event, which happens twice a year. On Winter Solstice, the sun reaches its lowest point in the northern hemisphere at noon on December 21 and December 22. The sun reaches its highest point at noon during summer solstice on June 21.

You might ask yourself why I am telling you this. Well, the Argentinian Metal Band Solsticio (Engl. Solstice) named itself after this process.

This band was founded in 2006 in the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires, by a fusion of different genres, but Heavy Metal became the framework.

There was no direction in 2007 and 2008 Solsticio appeared in the public for the first time after a couple of changes.

In 2009 Solsticio played with various Metal bands on Festivals in Buenos Aires and also in the cities of Mar de Plata and Chivilcoy. In May, they could open a show for Tarja Turunen at Teatro des Flores and recorded a demo with “Free” and “Fairytale”. Later, the Epica cover “Blank Infinity” followed.

The live activity was reduced one year later as they put their focus on the recording sessions for their first EP. Experiments with different musical genres began and even Tango music was included, looking for a unique sound that relates to their origin in Buenos Aires.

Now, the first EP “Winter Solstice” is available. This EP is an introduction to their first studio record, which should be issued in 2012. This record was produced by the band and producer Roberto Castiglioni at “Caca Records” studio. This EP with the tracks “Free”, “Lost Souls” and the Loreena McKennitt cover “The Mummer’s Dance” is very impressive.

The first track “Free” starts, which convinces with Caro Guedes’s vocals as guitar player Pablo Ruiz plays a solo on 3:20 until drummer Sergio follows with a drum firework. This song deserves the term “epic”.

In the beginning, “Lost Souls” reminds me a little bit of the Evanescence Hit “My Immortal”. But the heavy tunes rise again and the guitar sounds by Pablo stick in the ear. An accordion, violins and other various atmospheric elements refine it additionally.

The band added a rock guitar on the intro at the Loreena McKennitt cover “The Mummer’s Dance” and the track got extra edge. Although they stayed true to the original version and didn’t change much. For example, the folk vibe has been keeping up.

Nightwish, Within Temptation, Epica and many others may have something to worry about if Solsticio release their first studio record on this level. There would be a great future for them.

This artist has yet to be signed to a label.

Nightwish, Within Temptation, Epica und viele andere können sich warm anziehen.

Die Sonnenwende ist ein astronomischer Prozess, der zweimal im Jahr stattfindet. Zur Wintersonnenwende auf der Nordhalbkugel der Erde am 21. und 22. Dezember erreicht die Sonne die geringste Mittagshöhe über dem Horizont. Während der Sommersonnenwende am 21. Juni erreicht die Sonne ihren mittäglichen Höchststand über dem Horizont.

Ihr werdet euch sicher fragen weshalb ich euch mit Astronomie belehre. Nun, die argentinische Metalband Solistico zu Deutsch „Sonnenwende“ hat sich nach diesem Vorgang benannt.

Gegründet wurde die Band im Jahre 2006 in der Haupstadt, Buenos Aires, Argentinien Südamerika durch eine Fusion von verschiedenen Stilrichtungen wobei mit Heavy Metal der Grundrahmen abgesteckt wurde.

2007 gab es noch keine klare Richtung ehe man 2008 nach mehreren Abänderung mit den Namen Solsticio zum ersten Mal öffentlich auftrat.

2009 traten Solsticio auf Festivals mit verschiedenen Metalbands in Buenos Aires und den anderen Städten Mar de Plata und Chivilcoy auf. Im Mai gastierten sie als Eröffungsband für Tarja Turunen im Teatro des Flores und nahmen deswegen eine Demo mit den Songs „Free“ und „Fairytale“ auf. Später folgte mit „Blank Infinity“ ein Cover von Epica.

Ein Jahr später wurden die Live Aktivitäten reduziert und das Schwergewicht auf die Aufnahmen zur ersten EP gelegt. Um einen eigenen Sound zu finden, der sich auch auf den Ursprungsort Buenos Aires bezieht, wurde mit verschiedenen Einflüssen experimentiert und auch Tango hinzugefügt.

Nun liegt uns mit „Winter Solstice“ ihre erste EP vor. Diese ist ein Vorgeschmack auf ihr erstes Studioalbum, welches 2012 erscheinen soll.

Produziert wurde die Scheibe von der Band selber mit Produzent Roberto Castaglioni. Und was hier auf der vorliegenden EP mit den Songs „Free“, „Lost Souls“ und dem Loreena McKennitt’s Cover „The Mummer’s Dance“ geboten wird, kann sich wirklich sehen lassen!

Mit „Free“ erklingt der erste Song, der durch die Stimme Caro Guedes besticht und ab 3:20 Uhr mit einem Gitarrensolo von Pablo Ruiz aufwartet, ehe Drummer Sergio mit seinem Drum Feuerwerk nachzieht. Dieser Song verdient das Prädikat „episch“.

„Lost Souls“ erinnert aufgrund des Piano Teils zu Beginn ein wenig an den Evanescence Hit „My Immortal“. Dann wird jedoch der Härtegrad angezogen und das Gitarrenspiel Pablos bleibt im Ohr hängen, während ein Akkordeon, Geigen und verschiedene atmsphärische Elemente den Song zusätzlich veredeln.

Bei der „The Mummer’s Dance“ Coverversion von Loreena McKennitt hat die Band eine Rockgitarre beim Intro dazugehängt und dem Song dadurch mehr Kanten verliehen. Allerdings sind sie der Original-Version treu geblieben und haben nicht zu viel verändert, z.b. wurde der folkige Einschlag beibehalten. Dies wird vor allem beim Gesang von Caro deutlich.

Sollten Solsticio ihr erstes Studioalbum auf dem gleichen Niveau herausbringen wie diese EP, dann steht ihnen eine grossartige Zukunft bevor und Nightwish, Within Temptation, Epica und viele andere können sich warm anziehen.

Jetzt fehlt nur noch eine Plattenfirma, welche diese vertragslosen Künstler unter Vertrag nimmt.

Nightwish, Within Temptation, Epica y muchas otras bandas pueden tener algo de que preocuparse.

El Solsticio en un evento astronómico que ocurre dos veces al año. En el solsticio de Invierno, el sol alcanza su punto mas bajo en el hemisferio norte el 21 y 22 de Diciembre. El Sol alcanza su punto mas alto al mediodía del 21 de Junio durante el Solsticio de Verano.

Quizás se pregunten por qué les estoy diciendo esto. Bueno, es que la banda argentina de metal Solsticio se llama como este proceso.

La banda fue fundada en el 2006 en Buenos Aires, capital de Argentina, como una fusión de diversos estilos dentro del marco del heavy metal.

Durante el 2007 la banda no tenían aún un rumbo definido y en el 2008 Solsticio apareció por primera vez en público luego de algunos cambios.

Durante el 2009 Solsticio realiza numerosas participaciones en festivales junto a diversas bandas de la escena local, tanto en Capital, como en otras ciudades (Mar del Plata y Chivilcoy). En Mayo, tuvieron la oportunidad de abrir el show de Tarja Turunen en el Teatro de Flores y grabo un pequeño demo con “Free” y “Fairytale”, al que mas tarde le agregaron “Blank Infinity” de Epica.

Un año más tarde, la banda se dedicó en menor medida a los shows en vivo, para poner su foco en la grabación de su primer EP. Comenzaron a experimentar con distintos generos musicales, incluso hasta influencias tangueas, buscando un sonido unico que los relacionara con su ciudad de origen Buenos Aires.

Ahora el primer EP “Winter Solstice” está disponible. Este EP es una introducción a su primer disco de estudio que se lanzara en el 2012.

Este disco fue producido por la banda y Roberto Castiglioni en el estudio “Caca Records”.

Este EP con los temas “Free”, “Lost Souls” y el cover de Loreena McKennit “The Mummer’s Dance” es muy imponente.

Esta canción vive principalmente,  por la voz de Caro Guedes. Pero el guitarrista Pablo Ruiz, tambien sabe brillar con un solo de guitarra y el baterista Sergio Prieto ataca con los fuegos artificiales de la bateria. Esta cancion merece el termino “Epico”.

En el comienzo, “Lost Souls” me recordó un poco al hit de Evanescence “ My Inmortal”.

Pero las melodias pesadas se levantan nuevamente y el sonido de la guitarra de Pablo, es muy pegadizo. Un Acordeón, violines y otros variados elementos atmosféricos lo matizan completamente. 

La banda agrego una guitarra de rock en la intro del cover de Loreena McKennitt “The Mummer’s Dance” consiguió una ventaja extra, aunque se mantuvieron fieles a la versión original y no cambiaron demasiado, por ejemplo, manutvieron la atmósfera Folk.

Nightwish, Within Temptation, Epica y muchas otras bandas pueden tener algo de que preocuparse si Solsticio lanza su primer disco de estudio a este nivel. Va a haber un gran futuro para ellos.

Estos artistas aún no han firmado con una discográfica.

Nightwish,Epica,Within Temptation e tanti altri potrebbero fare i conti con loro.

Il solstizio è un processo astronomico, che ha luogo due volte all’anno. Durante il solstizio invernale dell'emisfero nord della Terra, il 21 e il 22 dicembre, il sole raggiunge a mezzogiorno il punto più basso all’orizzonte. Durante il solstizio estivo, il 21 giugno, il sole raggiunge a mezzogiorno il punto più alto all’orizonte.

Di sicuro vi starete chiedendo perché io parlo dell’astronomia. È perché il complesso metal argentino Solsticio è nominato secondo questo evento naturale.

Il complesso è stato fondato nell’anno 2006 a Buenos Aires, la capitale dell’Argentina, mettendo insieme correnti diverse di metal, in cui l’heavy metal è il piu riconoscibile.

Non avendo una chiara direzione nel 2007, dopo vari cambiamenti nel 2008, escono publicamente con il nome Solsticio.

Nel 2009 Solsticio si presentano ad alcuni festival con diversi complessi metal a Buenos Aires ed altre città come Mar de Plata e Chivilcoy. A maggio sono stati ospiti di Tarja Turunen nel Teatro des Flores come complesso d’apertura. In questa occasione è stato registrato un demo con le canzoni «Free» e «Fairytale». Successivamente con «Blank Infinity» seguì una cover di Epica.

Un anno dopo, riducendo le attività dal vivo, si concentrano sulla registrazione del loro primo EP. Per trovare una impronta musicale personale, proveniendo da Buenos Aires, esperimentano con diverse influenze musicali, aggiungendo anche il Tango.

Adesso è uscito il loro primo EP, „Winter Solstice“. Questo è soltanto un assaggio del primo album registrato in studio che uscirà nel 2012.

Il disco fu prodotto dal complesso stesso con il producente Roberto Castagliani. E con le canzoni contenute in questo EP, „Free“,“Lost Souls“ e la cover di Loreena McKennitts „The Mummers Dance“ si possono veramente esibire!

Con „Free“ ha inizio la prima canzone dell` album, che colpisce con la voce di Caro Guedes , dopo 3 minuti e 20, seguito da un assolo di chitarra di Pablo Ruiz, e finendo con un esplosione ritmica della batteria di Sergio. Questa canzone si guadagna il titolo di essere „epica“.

Per il pezzo al piano forte, „Lost Souls“ ricorda la Hit di Evanescence „My Immortal“. Il livello di forza musicale si innalza quando la chitarra di Pablo entra nelle orecchie, durante cui una fisarmonica, dei violini ed altri strumenti  di elemento atmosferico, donano alla canzone un tocco magico.

Iniziando l’aggancio con la chitarra rock, subito all` inizio della canzone, la cover „The Mummers Dance“ di Loreena McKennitt diventa pungente. Ma, ricordando l’originale, non hanno in fondo cambiato molto la canzone, mantenendo la sua caratteristica folk. Riconoscibile nella voce di Caro.

Se l’album di Solsticio, registrato in studio, conterrà la stessa forza e lo stesso  livello musicale dell` EP, sarà grandioso, perché in futuro „Nightwish“,“Epica“,“Within Temptation“ e tanti altri potrebbero fare i conti con loro.

Adesso manca soltanto una casa discografica che se ne renda conto.
