ALEX ZORBA

Dimitris : How are you feeling after this great show?

Fernando : I'me feeling very awake, very alert, very well!It was fantastic to play again in Thessaloniki and it was a great night for Moonspell.

D : Was this show better than the last one?

F : I think so because the place was better than the last time, but the feeling was great because it was so crowded in a small place, it allowed us to be more together with people and that's another perspective of Moonspell. They could feel our sweat and i think this show was for the band and for the audience much better from the first one which is always good.

D : I must say it was very hot tonight! That's why you changed t-shirts?

F : Yes it was very hot! I had to change it, i don't have many t-shirts ,i have to use them wise. We'll be on tour for six weeks, tomorrow we have the show in Athens so the previous shirt is drying out the sweat. It was definitely very hot tonight.

D : How is it for you to tour for so many weeks? Does that tire you?

F : No, i'm feeling very well actually, it's like you have to understand it's like a sport. It's every night, has more feeling and more spirituality. But Moonspell is a band that belongs to the stage,we have to tour a lot. That's how most people got into Moonspell in the first place. I really like to tour, i like being on stage and our songs belong to the stage as well. So, i'm not tired at all and i look forward to tomorrow's show. Of course it pays the price like your personal life, your family and all of that. I'm in the band to communicate with people and the best way to do that is from the stage. Its different from just watching us on TV. They are face to face with us.

D : I heard that you really like the Greek author Nikos Kazantzakis.

F : I love Kazantzakis. He's one of my favourite authors and today i bought three more books,"freedom or death", his autobiography "report to Greco" and my favorite book of all time "Alex Zorba" in English, which is my favorite book ever.

D : So, he must be a big influence to you when writing lyrics?

F : He is of course. He writes in Greek and unfortunately i couldn't learn Greek, it's a very hard language and i have not time and probably not talent enough to learn Greek but the translations in English are very rich and very good. So he's a big influence for me, the way he writes, the subjects, the human factor of Kazantzakis. In Moonspell songs for instance, Magdalene from Sin is influenced from Nikos Kazantzakis.

D : Have you ever worked with other artists outside of Moonspell?

F : Yes, with many bands. I've been with Tiamat and Lacuna Coil on stage. Also i've been in many albums like in Rotting Christ, some Portugese bands, so people invite me and when i feel the power and the truth i just go there and sing and i hope i'm doing a good job.

D : You're definitely do a great job Fernando! Thanks for the interview.

F : Thank you too.

Interview with Ricardo from Moonspell backstage right after their show in Thessaloniki,Greece.

Dimitris : It's your second visit in Thessaloniki. Two years ago you played in a different venue. Was the new place a better one?

Ricardo : I think so, yes. The crowd was better and people saw us for a second time and we knew a bit what to expect. We were ready for them and its good to see that everybody had a great time. I just wish we could play a bigger venue, people would fit in there better but still it was a very nice show,we're very happy that people enjoyed. We'll come back for sure.

D : Did you like this venue more than the last one?

R : Well, it's different from the other one, technical things but that doesn't really matter, they're both special. When you have two intense shows its really hard to compare them. I just believe that we as a band are in a much better shape and have more to offer than we had two years ago.So in some aspect maybe this show was better because we had more to give to the audience.

D : Looking back to your latest album, The Antidote, are you satisfied with it?

R : Yes,very much. It took us a lot of work, it took a lot of spirituality from us and we got really involved with it. We gave our best and apparently it was beyond our expectations.

D : How is your personal life outside music? Are you happy with it?

R : Yes, i'm very happy, i'm a very lucky guy i must say so!
