Ian Rilen

bassist and founding member of ROSE TATTOO Ian Rilen lost his long suffering battle with bladder cancer.

Rilen died this morning (Monday, October 30) surrounded by friends and family.

With a career spanning thirty years, Rilen helped shape the sound of Australian hard rock in the '70s and '80s, playing with ROSE TATTOO where he wrote the Oz-rock classic "Bad Boy for Love".
Not happy with the direction ROSE TATTOO were taking, Rilen left to form X (not the L.A.-based punk rock group, but the Sydney-formed, Melbourne-based rockers) in 1977, where he launched a full-scale sonic attack on the masses.

His most recent band was the LOVE ADDICTS, which featured him on vocals and guitar and often included a stripped-back jazz-inspired version of the ROSE TATTOO hit "Bad Boy for Love".

He was 58 years old.

Vreid

VREID, the Norwegian band formed by former WINDIR members Hváll (bass), Steingrim (drums) and Sture (vocals, guitar), has issued the following update:

"First of all, a big salute to everyone who attended to the shows at the European tour. You made this tour splendid for VREID. A special hail to the audience of London, Tilburg, Paris, Berlin and Maribor. Dedication, intensity and havoc were much appreciated.

"The tour went really smooth thanks to our travel comp(onions), and drinking brothers of ENSLAVED, a great crew, and last but not least the fact that we got to do the bigger parts of the tour in our own excellent double nightliner! A good night/day sleep can not be underestimated while touring. The fact that we also got to expand the cultural, rural, food and drinking horizon of our stubborn Norwegian farm minds were also very satisfactory. Visit at the Louvre, barbeque in the beautiful landscapes of Slovenia, the impressive road taverns (courtesy of our infamous driver; the Wolfman), walkabout in the historical jungle of Berlin, Oktoberfest in Munich and the majestic sights of Budapest made this a fulfilling tour in every way.

"Since the last tour we saw that there is rapidly growing fan base for VREID out there. This is of course inspiring and satisfactory for us. But let us not stop there, the planning for 2007 shows have started, and some shows has already been booked for Germany and a first visit to the U.S. To make sure VREID will play near you or at you favorite festival, let the bookers know you want VREID by sending them e-mails or telling so at their forums, this does indeed make a difference!!
"During the summer we decided we wanted to work with a new label for the release of the third album. Since the word came out the interest has been tremendous. We have used the autumn to look at different options, and we hope to announce our new label partner within the next weeks.

"The recording of the next album will actually start real soon, and we promise to keep you updated on the new album, label, concerts etc."

VREID's latest album, "Pitch Black Brigade", was released in Europe in April via Tabu Records (Candlelight Records in the U.S.). The CD was recorded at studio 1184 and was mixed at Subsonic Society with Lars Klokkerhaug.

Hearse

Two songs from HEARSE's brand new fourth album, "In These Veins", have been posted online at the Dental Records web site. Check out the tracks "Corroding Armour" and "Intoxication" in the "Audio Player" located at www.dentalrecords.se.

HEARSE is the Swedish "death 'n' roll" band featuring former ARCH ENEMY singer Johan Liiva and ex-FURBOWL drummer Max Thornell. The follow-up to 2005's "The Last Ordeal", "In These Veins" was recorded and mixed by Dan Swanö (EDGE OF SANITY, BLOODBATH) and is "definitely the best-sounding HEARSE album so far," according to the band. "Dan had pretty much free hands and gave the recording quite a rough touch even though it sounds much more modern than our earlier albums."

Formed by longtime friends Thornell and Liiva, HEARSE recorded a demo before signing with Hammerheart Records. The band released a limited-edition 7-inch single, entitled "Torch", prior to issuing their debut album, "Dominion Reptillian", in 2003. A follow-up effort, "Armageddon Mon Amour", came out in 2004. The group's third CD, "The Last Ordeal", came out in August 2005 through Holland's Karmageddon Media.

part in the writing myself, im damn proud of the composing and producing
brothers Chris and Tommy Rehn.

Beseech

Swedish "gothic metallers" BESEECH have announced their decision to split up. The group has issued the following statement on the matter:

"All of us in the band have come to the sad conclusion to put BESEECH to rest for good. The decision has not been easy because this has been a really big part of our personal lives for many years. We have met so many great people through the music and really loved what we have done. We are proud of the work that we have achieved.

"However we cannot hide from the fact that we have grown apart from each other as persons and we have different views of how we want BESEECH to work as a band. This has taken away all the inspiration to continue and we see this as the only solution in the end. This way we can all part as friends and wish each other good luck with new endeavors that will follow.

"We would like to thank all of our fans, fan clubs and other people that has helped and supported BESEECH in their own way. Without you, we would never have lasted this long.

"We feel that our fans and everybody else that has supported us deserve to get a last chance to see BESEECH live and meet up with us in person. Therefore we´re planning to make one or a few farewell gigs in a near future for you all!"

BESEECH's final release was their fifth album, "Sunless Days", which came out in September 2005 through Napalm Records.

The follow-up to 2004's "Drama", "Sunless Days" was recorded at StudioMega in Varberg, Sweden and included a a cover of the DANZIG track "Devil's Plaything" as well as a re-recording of the song "Manmade Dreams" (on the digipack version only) from BESEECH's second album, "Black Emotions".

Marduk

Swedish black metallers MARDUK have announced plans to play select shows in Russia, Belarus and Ukraina in January 2007. Exact cities and dates will be announced soon.

As previously reported, MARDUK has added the first part of its "Fan Gallery", featuring pictures sent in by fans showing their MARDUK-related tattoos and other items. Check it out at this location.

MARDUK has uploaded a trailer for its recently issued DVD, entitled "Blood Puke Salvation", at this location (8 MB). Released on September 25, the DVD contains over 90 minutes of live material filmed in Tilburg, Holland and Antwerpen, Belgium during December 2004. Also included are promotional videos for "Throne Of Rats", "Steel Inferno" and "The Hangman Of Prague", plus a photo gallery, behind-the-scenes footage, interviews and a section entitled "Deathmarch" with exclusive hand-filmed live material from over 20 cities from the "Deathmarch" tour.

Atrocity

ATROCITY have lately been touring South America, Europe and Australia and a number of festivals with great success. The production of their follow up album of WERK 80 is continuing as the band has decided to record a complete orchestra, so be aware of a very unique up-coming album!

Turmoil

Philadelphia-based hardcore band TURMOIL has issued the following update:

"After 11 long years with Century Media Records and Abacus Recordings, we are free. And here, all we had to do was ask....weird. So after two LPs, two EPs, a couple of cover songs, and a two-CD discography, we can finally throw what was probably one of the worst recording contracts ever to be signed by humans into the garbage. But hey, when you're 22 years old and a couple of dudes fly from Essen, Germany to Colebrook, Pa. (??????) to sign you, give you money, and send you to Europe, who has time for reading contracts, right? Right.

"So, we've been working on new material most of the summer and were starting to question whether we wanted to put our time, effort, money, lives, sanity, etc., into writing a new full-length for a label that we weren't 100% comfortable with. The answer to that question being: NO. After consulting with our lawyers (where were they in 1995? Maybe high school...), we found out that the only option we really had was to ask to be released. So we draw straws, Pushnik loses, and he makes the call to Ray Harkins at Abacus. Apparently, Ray has been expecting said phone call, he talks to the owner, and within a week, we are free to explore our options. Un-fucking- believable. If you've never seen a bunch of 30-year-old men jump around like some schoolyard broads, well, you missed your chance.

"This was nothing personal; we've had a chance to work with a lot of great people over the last decade and we'd like to say thank you to Robert, Bori, Ula, Tom B., and Ray Harkins, just to name a few, but after 11 years, it's time for a change.

"We've had a couple offers come in already, but our ears are open. So whoever is interested in working with us, you can contact us through our website, [or] our MySpace page."

The Domination Tour 2007

Harm added

Norwegian thrashers HARM, whose debut album, "Devil", was released in Europe last month, have been confirmed for The Domination Tour 2007 alongside ROTTING CHRIST, MALEVOLENT CREATION, CARPATHIAN FOREST, INCANTATION and NEURAXIS.

HARM recently completed a series of live shows in Norway with ENTOMBED and MANIFEST, among others, and is now looking for new territories to conquer.

Finishing touches on new album

Guitarist Valle Adzic of the Swedish death/thrashers IMPIOUS has issued the following update:

"The new album is almost done. This weekend we'll do some last bits of recording. We'll also have Thomas Backelin from mighty LORD BELIAL come over for some guest vocals on a slower and very dark track. Will be fun! The mix will be done next weekend, so expect some samples here in a few weeks.

"We've set the title 'Holy Murder Masquerade' for the new album. Some of the songtitles are 'The Confession', 'Bound To Bleed (For A Sacred Need)', 'T.P.S.', 'Death On Floor 44', 'Holy Murder Masquerade' and 'Three Of One'. The cover is also done. It's awesome!"

IMPIOUS' fourth full-length album, "Hellucinate", was released in October 2004 through Metal Blade Records. The follow-up to 2002's "The Killer" was recorded at StudioMega with producer Valle Adzic and was mixed by Chris Silver and Valle Adzic.

'Existentia' cover unveiled

Norway's TRAIL OF TEARS has unveiled the cover artwork (created by Jan Yrlund) for its fifth album, "Existentia", tentatively due in January 2007 via Napalm Records. Signed a deal with Cheruti Musical Instruments

The musician Earth, responsible for the voices and instruments of Seduced by Suicide and Blood Tears signed a deal with Cheruti, a known manufacterer of musical instruments, which is in the market since 1993.

Earth will join a cast of high level musicians of the Brazilian musical scene who are endorsed by Cheruti, like Frank Solari, Arthur Maia (Gilberto Gil), Ricardo Koctus (Pato Fu), and others.

Besides of his work with Blood Tears and Seduced by Suicide, Earth already appeared on recordings of several bands like Ynis Vitrin and Burning in Hell, and is working for ten years as producer and owner of the recording and design estudio Nitro Sound Solutions (www.nitross.com).

Cheruti will for Earth an exclusive model of guitar which will be designed by him in the next weeks.

To release 'Völkerball' DVD in november

German industrial metallers RAMMSTEIN will release a new DVD, entitled "Völkerball" on November 17. According to RAMMSTEIN's manager Emanuel Fialik, the disc will be packed with footage, including "almost three hours of live recordings filmed in France, Japan, England and Russia. Also there is an audio CD featuring 75 minutes of concert footage. In a special edition the band will release a second DVD with two documentaries [with a running time of] 90 minutes. That makes three discs in a special edition: two DVDs and one audio CD."

"Völkerball" will be released in the following formats:

* Standard Edition: two-disc set (1 DVD, 140 minutes live video + 1 CD, 75 minutes live audio).

* Special Edition: three-disc set (1 DVD, 140 minutes live video + 1 DVD, 90-minute documentary, including "Anaconda in the Net" + "Reise, Reise: The Making of the Album" + 1 CD, 75 minutes live audio).

* Limited Edition: 190-page tour photo book, including all three discs from the special edition + the entire live audio recordings of the concerts (140 minutes) on an additional fourth disc!

Incantation

Announces U.S. headlining tour

Veteran death metal band INCANTATION will hit the road again for its first U.S. tour in support of its recently-released seventh album, "Primordial Domination".

The group will begin the trek with INTERNAL SUFFERING and YEAR OF DESOLATION on November 1.

INCANTATION previewed some of the material from "Primordial Domination" on the Decades of Death tour this past spring, then immediately went into the studio to put the finishing touches on the record.

"We're looking forward to getting out and playing the new songs," said guitarist/vocalist John McEntee. "This tour will hit more cities than the Decades of Death tour, so we will reach even more people this time around."

"Primordial Domination" was released September 5 on Ibex Moon Records. The record sticks to INCANTATION's tried-and-true recipe for brutal death metal, which has earned the band a reputation as one of the most important bands in the genre.

Following the release of the record, INCANTATION headed to South America for a string of concert in Brazil. "The shows were amazing!" McEntee said. "The crowds were just insane. It was a great way to kick off the touring for the Primordial Domination world tour."

While in Brazil, INCANTATION filmed a video for the track "The Fallen Priest". Look for it to begin airing soon.

Cancels plans for South American tour

Sweden's OPETH has posted the following message on its official web site:

"Despite trying to come to South America numerous times, it is with regret that OPETH cannot get to South America this year. [Doing] a proper headline show involves OPETH bringing a lot of equipment with them. New airline excess baggage rules mean that this equipment now has to be freighted and the costs of doing this did not make the tour financially viable. We will do our utmost to try and get to South America on the next album tour cycle."
