BLAZE BAYLEY

According to a posting on UK singer Blaze Bayley's (ex-IRON MAIDEN, WOLFSBANE) official web site, Blaze's wife/manager Debbie "is in critical condition in hospital following a dual brain hemorrhage last week and has not regained consciousness." Blaze's bandmates write, "Understandably, Blaze will be staying at bedside for the time being and we as a band are not prepared to put ourselves too far from her under these circumstances. Due to this serious situation, Blaze cannot appear at the Easy Rider Bike Fest [in Italy] this coming weekend and the Brazil tour must be postponed until early next year.

CHAOSWEAVER

Finnish symphonic extreme metallers Chaosweaver have recorded a cover
version of Crucified, an international hit by the infamous Swedish pop
band Army Of Lovers. The song features guest vocals from Heta Hyttinen, a
renowned Finnish journalist and presenter.

- When somebody asks something as weird as this in the middle of the Tuska
festival, of course I had to agreed, Hyttinen exclaims.

- Considering the band's musical style, I presumed they were to spice up
the song with a heavier approach. I was just listening to the end result,
and I have to say it sounds fucking splendid! No matter how bad your day's
been, it just blows away your troubles.

Crucified cover will be included on the second edition of Chaosweaver's
Puppetmaster of Pandemonium on July 30th, 2008, and it will be released as
a worldwide digital single on the same day. A stream teaser of the song
can be listened to at www.myspace.com/chaosweaverband.

So far Puppetmaster of Pandemonium has been released in nine different
countries. Most recent additions have been Germany, Switzerland and
Austria, where the album is distributed by Universal Music and promoted by
Brainstorm Music Marketing (Metallica, Marilyn Manson, Rammstein).

Chaosweavers music has been described as an unusual blend of gloomy metal,
cinematic soundscapes and the dramatics of classical music. Puppetmaster
of Pandemonium features also Jules Näveri (Profane Omen & Enemy of the
Sun), Tommi "Rotten" Virranta (Survivors Zero & ex-Deathchain), Aleksi
Munter (Swallow the Sun) ja Ville Sorvali (Moonsorrow).

SEROTONAL

British alternative doom metal band SEROTONAL (ex-ANATHEMA and THE BLOOD
DIVINE singer Darren White) successfully performed in two festivals in the
Czech Republic

Serotonal performed in two festivals in the Czech Republic last weekend:
on Friday 27 June in Basinfirefest in Spalene Porici (6.500 visitors) and

KATAKLYSM

Canadian extreme metallers KATAKLYSM have re-signed with Nuclear Blast Records.

This isn't the first time the band has re-signed to the label either but actually the fourth time; a first in the history of the label. It is a partnership that has thrived for the past 15 years and has produced such classics as "Temple of Knowledge", "Shadows and Dust" and "In the Arms of Devastation".

The band is currently touring with THE BLACK DAHILA MURDER as part of the annual Summer Slaughter tour, supporting its new album, "Prevail". Lead singer Maurizio Iacono took a quick break from the madness of the road to comment on their renewed partnership: "Today is a very important day for KATAKLYSM. A pivotal decision in our career has been made and we are beyond happy to say that we have decided to renew our deal with Nuclear Blast! This is the label who discovered us, believed in us, and still pushes the envelope for KATAKLYSM's future to this day. When times were rough many people turned their backs on KATAKLYSM but not Nuclear Blast. They stayed true to us and we learned from each others mistakes and grew together overtime. So today we make history together by becoming the first band on Nuclear Blast to re-sign four times! BENEDICTION

Long-running UK extreme metallers BENEDICTION have posted another new song, "They Must Die Screaming", on their MySpace page. The track comes off the group's new album, "Killing Music", due on August 22 via Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2001's "Organized Chaos" was produced by ANAAL NATHRAKH mastermind Mick Kenney and features several guest musicians, including Karl Willets (BOLT THROWER), Kelly Shaefer (ATHEIST), Billy Gould (ex-FAITH NO MORE), The Fog (FROST), Markus Staiger (Nuclear Blast Records owner) and Thorsten Zahn from Metal Hammer Germany. A limited-edition version of the album will include two bonus tracks and a DVD.

ALL THAT REMAINS

Prosthetic Records has set a September 16 release date for "Overcome", the new album from the Massachusetts metal band ALL THAT REMAINS. The CD was produced by Jason Suecof, who has previously worked with TRIVIUM, CHIMAIRA and THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, among others.

CARCASS

Reactivated British extreme metal legends CARCASS will play their only UK date as the headliner of the Damnation Festival 2008 on Saturday, November 22 at Leeds University. This will mark the band's first show on home soil in 14 years and the group yesterday hinted it could be the last show they ever play, wrapping up a successful reunion tour headlining some of the biggest metal stages across the globe.

Bassist/vocalist Jeff Walker commented: "Well, we enjoyed making you sweat... this is gonna be the ONLY UK show this year, and quite possibly your last chance to EVER catch us live! You Southerners are gonna have to get your shoes dirty and make your way 'oop' North to Leeds! To quote Herschell Gordon Lewis, 'prepare to die!'"

MOTÖRHEAD

Hard rock band MOTÖRHEAD will release its new album, entitled "Motörizer", through SPV Records on the following dates:

Germany: August 29
Rest of Europe: September 1

The follow-up to 2006's "Kiss of Death" was recorded in part (drums only) at FOO FIGHTERS frontman/ex-NIRVANA drummer Dave Grohl's Studio 606 in Northridge, California with producer Cameron Webb, who also worked on "Kiss of Death" and 2004's "Inferno".

ALL SHALL PERISH

Oakland extreme metal outfit ALL SHALL PERISH has set "Awaken The Dreamers" as the title of its new album, due on September 5 via Nuclear Blast Records. The recording sessions for the follow-up to "The Price of Existence" once again took place at Castle Ultimate Studios in Oakland with producer Zack Ohren.

In other news, ALL SHALL PERISH's classic debut album, "Hate.Malice.Revenge", will be reissued on September 5 as part of the Nuclear Blast "Reloaded" series.

OBITUARY

Vocalist John Tardy of the Florida-based death metal veterans OBITUARY has issued the following update:

"What a great weekend! We have been working really hard on this new EP [entitled 'Left to Die'] and Saturday night we finished it. I am totally psyched about this and can't wait to get it to you.

"I am not sure about the release date yet, but I'll post it as soon as I know. Once again, Mark Prator and RedRoom Recorders really helped us out to get this done. Markie, you rule...thanks for everything!!!

"Most of you probably know that we built our own studio for the recording of the 'Xecutioner's Return' CD. We tracked this new EP in our studio and are really happy with the sounds we are getting. Because of our limited, but growing, ProTools HD experience, we lean heavily on Mark for his guidence and help. We then take all those tracks to RedRoom where we put it all together. This process of being able to record right here in our own studio whenever we want has been an unbelievable asset to our writing and recording abilities!

"This EP will contain four songs: two new ones, that are heavy as balls. A new 2008 studio recording of 'Slowly We Rot'. 'Slowly' is one of the first songs we ever wrote and of all our songs it gets played every show! It is interesting to hear this song re-recorded almost 23 later. Unbelievable! You have to hear it. 'Dethroned Emperior' is a song by CELTIC FROST that we sometimes play live or just while jammming in the studio. Because we enjoy it so much we recorded it for this EP as well.

"I feel like we just got home from the first leg of our European festival tour and now we leave again Wednesday to start the second leg: Austria, Spain, France, Belgium, Germany and Italy... coming up!!!! I hope you come out and see us!"

CATTLE DECAPITATION

San Diego extreme metallers CATTLE DECAPITATION have issued the following update:

"We're taking a short break from writing our next album to come out and adorn California in GORE!!! A couple notable shows are gonna be our first show in YEARS at the old Covered Wagon building, now called Annie's Social Club in San Francisco with our buddy Pete Ponitkoff's (singer of BENUMB) band AGENDA OF SWINE, our long-awaited return to the Boardwalk in Orangevale — we regrettably missed the last show due to Travis being temporarily hospitalized for a panic attack — WE WILL MAKE IT THIS TIME!, and the BIG show at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood, CA with friends PHOBIA, SKARP, THE FUNERAL PYRE, WATCH ME BURN and many more!!!

"We'd also like to announce that we'll be returning to the studio in August with Billy Anderson once again at the helm! We'll also be incorporating the abilities of Zach Ohren for the recording of the drums! The album's title is being withheld until we decide to warn the public, but so far here are a few choice song titles of which we'll be playing at all the shows this week: 'Tooth Enamel & Concrete', 'Regret & the Grave', 'We Are Horrible People' and 'The Body Farm'.

DEEP PURPLE

According to Ynet, DEEP PURPLE will play two shows in Israel at the end of the summer — September 7 and September 8 at Hangar 11 in Tel Aviv.

As previously reported, DEEP PURPLE will be joined by the group's former keyboardist Jon Lord during its appearance at the Sunflower Jam 2008 on Thursday, September 25 at the Porchester Halls, London, England. This will mark the first time that Lord has performed with the band in several years.

UNEARTH

Massachusetts metallers UNEARTH have begun work the follow-up to 2006's "III: In the Eyes of Fire", tentatively due in October via Metal Blade Records. The bulk of the CD's instrumental tracks are being recorded at Massachusetts' System Recording Studios with producer Adam Dutkiewicz (KILLSWITCH ENGAGE guitarist), while the album's drum tracks are being laid to tape by drummer Derek Kerswill (KINGDOM OF SORROW, SEEMLESS) at Zing Studios. The as-yet-untitled record is said to feature the band's "most dynamic material to date"

FEAR MY THOUGHTS

German modern melodic death hopefuls FEAR MY THOUGHTS are scheduled to release their new album in Europe on July 21 via Century Media Records (July 18 in Germany). The follow-up to last year's "Vulcanus" was recorded at the band's own Black Halo Studios by guitarist Patrick Hagmann. The artwork concept and design was created by Markus Ruf (guitar) while new vocalist Martin Fischer composed, played and recorded all synthesizer and organ parts. The vocal recordings and the mix were overseen by Daniel Bergstrand (MESHUGGAH, IN FLAMES, SOILWORK, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD).

Commented guitarist Patrick Hagmann: "We’re pretty excited about the reactions on the new album. We know it differs from the old stuff, but it still has the 'FEAR MY THOUGHTS flame' in it and we fuckin’ love it. We do not want to limit ourselves or repeat the same ideas over and over again. The new songs represent perfectly the wide range of our musical tastes, from metal to rock to punk to jazz to progressive music. Martin brought in some fresh blood and as he is a highly versatile artist, he also had an impact on the songwriting. FEAR MY THOUGHTS fans are known for being open minded and not submitting to the latest trends and fashions in the music biz, so get ready for the new musical challenge called 'Isolation'."

Entitled "The Ravages of Time (The Best of Threshold)", the two-disc set was issued by the band's previous label Inside Out Music on November 20 in the U.S. (one day earlier internationally). The track listing was selected by the band in conjunction with the label.

SABATON

"Cliffs of Gallipoli", the new video from Swedish metallers SABATON, can be viewed below. The song comes off the group's new album, "The Art of War", which was released on May 30 via Black Lodge Records. The follow-up to 2006's "Attero Dominatus" was recorded at Abyss Studios with producer Peter Tägtgren and was made available in three formats: normal CD, gatefold LP and a limited-editon CD that comes in a DVD package that also will include the exclusive book "The Art of War".
